Considering most of them became known through their roles in English-language movies, speaking English seems to be a prerequisite here (otherwise I doubt the film would get much viewing by the populous). I was going to respond and say that Idris Elba probably has a good chance in coming years, but he was born in the UK, which of course, is an (THE) anglophone country. Parents were non-anglophone, though, if that counts. I tried Antonio Banderas, because obviously, but no luck, and considered Bruce Lee (but realized the years didn't allow for it). Other than that, yeah, most men considered "sexy" in our culture are going to be very "anglicized".

It's an American magazine for American readers. Stars from non-anglophone countries won't be considered unless they make it big in the US and that's pretty normal. Despite the title I don't think anyone believes the men picked are actually the sexiest on the whole planet.

Ápart from connery and hemsworth, none on of these are really of interest to me either. I get jackman though, he is very charming. (and sort of get ford too, indiana jones was an exciting character with an adventurous life and for many the indiana jones movies are a part of their childhood)>

I think many of these had adventurous roles, not simply movie star, superheros, action heros, bonds

How Australian is Mel Gibson? He was born in the US, didn't move to Australia until he was 12 and since the time he was 30 he's been more or less living in America. He was born an American citizen and as far as I know never renounced his citizenship. Interestingly enough he is currently an Irish citizen which he clams from his mother as well not Australian which he is only a permanent resident. I understand leaving that since most people would say at first say he's Australian but he only lived there for about a third of his life.

I always thought Harry Hamlin's political accomplishments were underappreciated. Glad someone finally recognized him, even if it was 220 years late. Also surprised Kevin Costner didn't win between '87 and '94. He was *everywhere.*

His grandparents were Australian. He was born in New York but he moved to Australia as a kid and spent his formative year there. He first worked as an actor in Australian movies before coming back to work in Hollywood.

However, he's never had Australian citizenship. He's got dual American and Irish citizenship. I'd say you're sort of right and sort of wrong.

Had a very good laugh at this, but it's also a credit to DeVito's talent. Guys like him, Paul Giamati, and John C. Reilly never have to doubt whether they made it on talent alone. All three have put together remarkable and enduring careers too.
