A lot has been said about this site being visited mostly by Americans. If it is true, I am all the more pleased that 70% of people know Wallace and Gromit (even though, in my humble opinion, it is debatable who is whose sidekick) (:
I'm an American who grew up with wallace and gromit. I faintly remember one movie about gromit turning into a monster or something, but the film I remember the most is the one in which they go to the moon and it is made of cheese.
Frodo bears the weight of the ring, Sam assists. Simon writes and sings the songs, Garfunkel sings harmony. Seems like clear cut examples of sidekicks to me.
The fact that Simon has had a much more impressive and lasting career does not mean Garfunkel was the sidekick. He was not the sidekick. He was the singer.
A million Buffy fans are crying out for so few people knowing her sidekick. I never watched the show (hated it), but I can appreciate it and know my stuff about it.
maybe it's the last name that throwing them off. Personally I don't think I would have been able to tell you Willow's last name, and my first thought when I saw Rosenberg was that couple in the fifties that were spies for Russia
I’ve never read them and only saw the very last movie in theatre because my partner at the time was a fan. There were horcruxes and magic stuff and a bunch of characters I wasn’t familiar with. Most of what I know came from this site.
I read toto instead of tonto... Still failed though, I simply CANNOT think of the name of the girl in wizard of oz..(freaking alice keeps popping into my head and I cant get it out! )
After that I just started putting in random other characters. I never thought it was Han.
& Shrek....
