Now and again, answers to these quizzes blow me away. Only 24% know that "As Time Goes By" is from Casablanca, certainly one of the two or three most significant movie songs ever? Amazing.

Almost everyone has heard of Casablanca, but I'd wager that probably 98% of people under 40 years old have never actually seen it.

Yeah, I'm in my mid 30's and have heard of Casablanca, but never seen it. If it makes you feel better, I didn't know the song from Despicable Me 2 or The Muppet Movie either ;)

I watched Casablanca for the first time when I was in my mid thirties. It's a great film.

I saw Casablanca when I was 19. I'm 20 now.

How does it feel to be 30?

I saw it quite recently (and am just under 40 still), this spring I believe. It was a very good movie and I enjoyed it. I usually don't have much patience for old black and white ones, but Casablanca was definitely worth it.

"We'll always have Paris." "Round up the usual suspects." It just doesn't get any better than that on a rainy afternoon with a bowl of popcorn.

I'm 61, and I've seen the beginning of Casablanca about twenty times at least, always manage to fall asleep for the middle and end.

Also, Eminem is a very talented individual and 8 Mile was a good movie that came out in 2002, 60 fewer years ago than Casablanca.

Pinocchio and The Wizard of Oz are older, but as "family" movies they both get a ton more play- rereleased to theaters, shown on TV, and sold in DVD collections etc.

I have seen Casablanca, but spaced on the name of the song and didn't make the connection. You played it for her, Sam, you can play it for me.

Surprised Flashdance is so high in the stats, that's the one I struggled with the most.

When it comes to songs overshadowing movies, though, that one takes the cake. Think about that movie for a second - an 18-year-old girl who's a steelworker by day, exotic dancer by night, pursuing a dream to become a legitimate (i.e. all her clothes on) dancer. Without the music, it would have been a late night entry on Cinemax at best. With the music, it became a box office smash.

With the music - i.e. soundtrack - is right, because 'Maniac' wasn't even the main song. But it is probably more recognizable as a song title than 'What a feeling'.

Level 57

What A Feeling is also technically called Flashdance, so it likely wouldn't be in here as it spoils the movie name.

When I hear that song I always picture dance stepping in legwarmers.

I originally thought of American Pie: The Wedding for Maniac as its in the dance off scene with Stiffler and Bear haha

You need to add a second answer for "I Will Always Love You"... go back and watch "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas"... and you will note that, near the end, Dolly Parton sings it to Burt Reynolds. She is the one who actually wrote the song, and was happy to give Whitney Houston permission for its use in "The Bodyguard."

I used to have that on this quiz. Only 4% of people guessed it correctly.

Katie Couric once asked Dolly Parton if it upset her when people would say that was Whitney's song. Dolly answered that she was fine with Whitney getting the credit as long as she got the cash. :)

Yeah, even if that had been the only song she ever wrote, the royalties from Whitney's cover would've set her up for life.

"Gangster's Paradise" is such a good song. Too bad Dangerous Minds is a totally forgettable movie.

The same could be said for at least a half dozen more of these as well. Sometimes the music is the best part of the movie.

Technically 'I Will Always Love You' is from 'The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas' which was released in 1982, and sung by Dolly Parton who wrote it... Whitney Houston covered it in the Bodyguard in 1992

And technically Unchained Melody is from the 1955 movie Unchained, but I'd wager far more people know the 1965 version recorded by the Righteous Brothers, which (if we're talking about movies) is most closely associated with Ghost. As much as I love Dolly (and I do!) Whitney's version of "I Will Always Love You" is one of the top ten selling singles of all time, so it's safe to say that more people associate it with her at this point.
