cool quiz. Got most of them. I always thought Ascuncion mean "ascension," so looked it up and it can mean both. Had no idea that Las Vegas meant the meadows.. the rest I knew but missed a few due to memory/grammar
Great quiz! I never really thought about what Santa Cruz and Santa Fe meant in Spanish, but I was able to guess them. If you wanted to expand this quiz, you could add Trinidad (Trinity).
Not saying change it again but wikipedia has the translation as "River of Silver", which sounds more sensible to me. Spanish usage of articles is different from English, so translating word for word isn't always correct e.g. "I like art" in English is "Me gusta el arte" in Spanish.
Not much love for Punta Arenas. I spent some time there a few years ago. It's a perfectly pleasant, if cold and windy city on the shores of the Strait of Magellan, close to the southernmost point of the South American mainland, Cape Froward.
After getting Holy Cross, I took that translation and somehow managed to work out the answer to The Crosses, although I have never heard of that place before.
I only knew it because in high school, my best friend moved to New Mexico. I cried for weeks until her family changed their minds and moved back from Las Cruces.
Even though "Good airs" is technicaly correct, it's another case where literal translations aren't accurate. "Good winds" or "Fair winds " would be better.
well if thats the case, i think rich port, equator, and the savior should all be accepted in the “countries of the world quiz” because last time i checked i saw that on that quiz they said to use the ENGLISH spelling, so yeah
If you translate word by word (rather than the whole expression), ‘Punta Arenas’ = ‘Sands Point’, not ‘Sand Point’.
