Yeah, I fail at Rennaissance-era history because everyone tends to have one of ten names, therefore, "Wait, WHICH one of these twenty Johns/Thomases/Henrys/Annes/Marys did this?!?!?!?"
I got them all, except for Hampton Court, thanks to watching The Tudors. I did Google all the "characters" on the show as I watched, so I could keep all the names straight. Looks like I learned a lot in the process!
Hampton Court has been carefully restored and is open to the public - well worth a visit if you are in London. It is also the venue for a wonderful Flower Show in the spring. There is a main line station nearby, and you can either walk, or, better still, get a river boat up to the palace. It is a great day out.
Yes, I thought of Thomas Becket for the archbishop even though I quickly realized it was the wrong Henry, but couldn't get him out of my head to think of the correct one.
