He's Jaime Escalante in the movie Stand and Deliver. The one where he teaches a bunch of inner city kids how to do math. Our math teacher made us watch it.
JesusPotter knows who he is, "what the frack" is a reference to Battlestar Galactica (which frequently uses "frack" as a substitute for another F word the writers weren't allowed to use). Edward James Olmos was one of the main characters in the 2004 reboot.
Weird dichotomy - all but two were incredibly easy, but the two I missed (Olmos and Boyle), I'd never even heard of. Checked Wikipedia - based on their "memorable roles" I've apparently never seen them on screen.
I've always thought 3-named movie stars sounded a little pretentious, but I suppose they have to have something to make them more easily remembered until they become known for their talent.
part of it's due to screen actors guild rules barring members from using the same name as another member. so if there were already a jenny wren in SAG, you'd have to use your middle name or initial or something to distinguish yourself.
Yeah, this is why Michael J. Fox has a middle initial that doesn't stand for anything, because of existing character actor Michael Fox. His actual middle name is Andrew, but "Michael A. Fox" sounded a little presumptuously descriptive.
Actually, he supposedly picked the J as an homage to Michael J. Pollard (a somewhat unusual character actor who had good supporting parts in Bonnie and Clyde and the original Star Trek, among many others).
I knew who she was, I just couldn’t figure out how to spell her name. Kept trying variants of Louie and Lewie, but never decided to try Louis, apparently.
Pretty massive omission. :')
