the dumbest argument I've seen someone use in a while. Northern Ireland is in Europe so why would you exclude it from the UK? Also, if quizmaster took in consideration only European part of Russia why would he then do different for France?
I kind of wish Northern Ireland was excluded from the UK because then we'd have our six counties back, 2.9 of which we'd already have if England hadn't taken more than was agreed for them to take when we signed a contract with them ninety odd years ago.
The only snag to your theory is that the majority of people in Northern Ireland don't want to be lumped with the Republic of Ireland, but want to stay with UK.......... Hard for you to understand it is called democracy.
I didn't see it was about population in Europe only. I think this quiz is quiet interesting now. And I posted this comment because our overseas territories are too often forgotten, even by french ourselves.
Bro the people in French Guyana had a referendum for autonomy in 2010 and 70% of the population rejected it. If they wanted freedom and more independence they could have it.
@Malbaby French Guiana has the largest economy in the Guianas (including Guyana and Suriname) despite having the smallest population, and has the highest GDP per capita in South America.
@Malbaby, French Guiana does not seek independence. The only French overseas territory that could gain independence soon is New Caledonia : they rejected it in 2018 but will vote again in 2020.
and 'what was agreed' was that the Northern Ireland Parliament would have the right to decide to remain part of the UK, and that's what they did...Not sure how you can have back what you never had.
That would do absolutely nothing for you the french because then the Turkish populous in Asia would be counted too and last time I checked Turkey has a higher population then France so you would be 4th no matter what
The OP is complaining that Frances non-European population isn't included. Peter is saying that if you want to include the non-European parts of France then you must also include the non-European parts of Turkey.
its not ridiculous, as it says most populous countries in Europe, the overseas regions aren't in france they are just owned by france. Like Ireland and northern Ireland many would prefer for the population of the north to be included with the republic or alone as a nation
Now how many times do you think we are going to be going over this? French Guiana, if it's not counted, sould be counted because this region is a PART and REGION NOT OVERSEAS DEPARTMENT, so even thought this region isn't in Europe it's obliged to be counted. It's like if you take Hawaii of the Unted States department, it's ridiculous.
You seemed to miss the argument. It doesn't matter that FG is an integral part of France (as is Reunion, Mayotte, etc). The quiz is purely asking about population located on the European continent. FG is excluded for the same reason Vladivostok isn't included in the Russian population count. Whilst their parent countries have European populations, the inhabitants of those parts are not in Europe.
Turkey’s probably pretty close. Although European Turkey is tiny, it still has about a seventh of their population, probably more than some other countries like Austria.
For those of you wondering: Going by the populations listed on Wikipedia for Turkish provinces and districts, the population of European Turkey is about 11.509 million - which would put it at 11th place, just a hair above Belgium at 11.469 million.
I guess, but there are 11 Indian States and 14 Administrative Divisions in China bigger than California in population, so I'm not sure of the significance of California. I mean the Tokyo metro area has as many people as your biggest state...
It's the same for french overseas regions.
