I hate perfume... but kind of like turkish delight. At least the good stuff. It's not the best thing I ever tasted, but I prefer it to baklava. At least most of time, and if eating any more than a tiny quantity. Though quality of both turkish delight and baklava varies a lot.
It's right across from the Hagia Sophia lol! And it is breathtakingly beautiful, whereas the Hagia Sophia was vandalized by the Ottoman, I was sad to see the interior . The tile work at the blue mosque is uplifting. I am a Nature worshipper so no bias here, lol!
i was trying bosphorus sea lol but that only borders istanbul and i didn't think the blue mosque was so famous because my hotel was so close to it so i saw it every day and never got fascinated lol
Seriously nothing about the football teams? Turkey have some of the craziest fans in the world, should have included the Istanbul teams, Gala, Fenerbahce and Besiktas.
I don't think a question asking us to name one of the 3 major clubs in Istanbul would be unreasonable. All are very well-known in world football. Turkish fans create a really intense atmosphere for visiting teams, even for Europe's elite.
I did too. Even then, I'm not sure I'd have described Turkish Delight as a dessert, it's more of a sweet/candy (that's how it's generally marketed in the UK).
I think I learned at least 11 of these things when we had to do reports on different countries in 3rd or 4th grade and I picked Turkey... because the name was funny.
I remember bringing Turkish delight in for the class. Though I'd first tried it after reading about it in the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. 2nd grade.
"What seaside locale, formally known as Smyrna, is the third largest city in Turkey?". Shouldn't it be "formerly" instead of "formally"? As far as I know the former name was Smyrna and the present-day name is Izmir.
Many Ottoman sultans also took the title of Caliph, to assert that they were rulers over the entire Islamic world, even though they never actually were.
There are many other delicious dishes that are exclusively Turkish that I would substitute for kebab. Kebab is a fast food, what about kufte? Delicious and authentically Turkish.

Yeah baby, I'm worth it...
