Boulder Colorado also has the largest Whole Foods on the planet and has a Keep Boulder Weird catchphrase.

It's somewhat ironic that all the "Keep It Weird" cities are re-using Austin's catchphrase. Maybe they're not as weird as they think.

I'm not sure what who-said-it-first has to do with this? Portland (where its huge) and Boulder (where its big enough to get its own Wikipedia entry) should also be accepted for Keep It Weird.

Whole Foods was founded in Austin and their flagship store is located there. Red Wassenich originated the "Keep Austin Weird" phrase in 2000. Portland didn't adopt it until 2003. As QM states, many places have adopted Austin's "Keep it Weird" phrase, including Fayetteville, AR and other college towns. And none of the other cities cited have a South by Southwest film festival.

They've done a pretty poor job with that then. Boulder, although a great town, is anything but "weird.'

It doesn't matter about the "Keep It Weird" clue, because neither Portland nor Boulder fit the SXSW clue.

Well, SXSW isn't in Boulder and the original Whole Foods and official headquarters is in Austin. I don't think they intend for you to read outside the box so much.

Yeah, how's South by Southwest doing in Boulder these days?

The only thing weird about cities that like to "keep it weird" is how how delusionally weird they think they are. But, hey, if they want to go on thinking having food trucks with clever names, expensive organic pet food stores, cloyingly twee cupcake shops, and coffee shops employing the overly tattooed and dudes with a bunch of gross facial hair makes them weird, then more power to 'em.

Well, there's a comment that says far more about the writer than the subject.

What has Budweiser to do with St. Louis? Is there a famous brewery?

In 1864 Adolphus Busch and his father-in-law, Eberhard Anheuser began the Anheuser-Busch Brewery in St. Louis. They introduced Budweiser lager in 1876. A few years ago it was purchased by InBev, a Belgian-Brazilian company.

If you've heard a beer commercial in the past 90 years, "Anheuser Busch, St. Louis, Missouri".

Can I just say, in my perspective, when you said U.S. Steel, I thought of Pittsburgh. And also when you said Fishermans Wharf, I thought of San Francisco. But good quiz overall.

Seriously! Come on now, I've lived in California forever and I had never even heard of a fisherman's wharf in Monterey, only San Francisco.

I typed "San Francisco" like ten times. I was sure I was just making a typo or something.

There is actually a sign in Monterey that reads "Old Fisherman's Wharf Monterey Peninsula" right outside the Fisherman's Wharf. I've been in California virtually my entire life and my first inclination was to type San Francisco as well. But read the other 2 clues, specifically Cannery Row and Monterey becomes the only viable answer.

Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey is AMAZING! A small, honest version of the giant rip-off that serves tourists in San Francisco (some of the worst seafood I've ever eaten), Monterey restaurants are great, the ambience is fantastic. Whales migrating off the coast. Historical. Memorialized by John Steinbeck, along with Cannery Row. You can drive there on a Saturday in the midst of an oppressive Southern California heat wave, spend a cool, relaxing evening eating on the pier, and walking around Cannery Row...and still drive home! Sleep on Sunday. One sunny Sunday afternoon in the '80s, a gf and I were having a drink on the wharf. At the next table sat an elderly sailor, dressed in white and navy..alone except for a stuffed fabric"toy" on a chair next to him--a 3 or 4 ft. female, wearing a dress with striped tights, high heels, and very long eyelashes. He was whispering to her and we had to smile--it was surreal! He saw us and said, "She might not say much, but she's a hell of a dancer!"

Fisherman's Wharf certainly made me think San Francisco, but the rest of the clue is unmistakably Monterey.

Best whale-watching ever off Monterey coast with a marine biologist from the aquarium. We saw a feeding frenzy and lots of whales, including a humpback with her calf. She was happy to allow us to observe from the legal distance. (I think she was a proud mom.) All that despite the fact that I was tossing my cookies the entire time.

Houston is not on the Gulf of Mexico. It's about 50 miles from Galveston which is on the Gulf, although a ship channel does connect Houston to the Gulf.

Except Clear Lake City is not a city, but a planned community inside the city limits of Houston. Houston is about 5 miles from Galveston Bay which is part of the Gulf of Mexico. As others have pointed out no one is having trouble with the clue.
