Denver is literally called the mile high city...

which is a nominal 5280'. Most of Santa Fe, NM sits above 7000'.

Ok. And there are many, many, many cities lying at higher than a mile of elevation. Some of them are even state capitals!

A mile isn't actually all that high up...

Wow, pretty much the only state capitals I knew were for Hawaii, Alaska, California, New Mexico, Texas, New York and Massachusetts, so that gave me 14/20 right there!

I'm American and missed two, but sadly I only know the names of three cities in New Zealand - Aukland, Wellington, and Christchurch, so you are better than me by far. (Do you have the equivalent of states there?)

Sad that none of the capitals of any of the states I've lived in made it. Oh well. Guess they're all too ordinary. Came darn close on most populous, though!

Good quiz! Would you consider doing the same quiz, but with Canadian capitals?

Probably not since there are only 13 to choose from.

Great quiz, not just a rote list of top 20 such and so.

"Highest elevation" and "Last alphabetically" were tough... glad I was able to get them! Great quiz

This is a top two quiz, not a top one quiz.

This was fun. I'm just going to type this out so I remember it: Augusta is the capital of Maine. Augusta is the capital of Maine. Augusta is the capital of Maine.

I think I've got it now.

Easy to remember. Just think of the Masters golf tournament there. :)

When quizzes like this get reset, I always like to imagine that somehow the question that got reset was something that can’t change. Like maybe Tallahassee is now the oldest capital, or Denver is now closer to Canada.

the Olympics one seems an odd one out, since there's no superlative in "has hosted the Olympic Games". either it needs "the most times" or similar, or you're looking for the only two, in which case that doesn't really fit with the rest of this quiz

Wouldn't Los Angeles be in the "hosted Olympics"? We've done it twice and a third coming up in 2028. I think I may have read the question wrong.

It would count if it was... the state capital

I didn't realize I've lived in both of the state capitals that hosted the Olympics. Just not when they were happening.
