He's not too bad when compared to most others on this list. Along with Merkel, Obama and Mandela, he's the only one that isn't either a nationalist conservative or a dictator.

Chavez, Castro and Lula have their place. For the all the bad western press, they've accomplished alot for the working people of their countries.

I don't like Merkal's politics but she's a true leader and cares about people. Obama was a bit of a disappointment (for a leftist) but given the circumstances he was one of the better US presidents in the post WWII era.

hwes pretty astounding you'd make those claims about South American leaders without having visited the continent. You're implying the "western press" is lying about them being corrupt dictators who have massively hindered progress in their countries, especially for working people. Read some (non-state) South American press and you'll see it's the same picture.

I live in a middling city in Peru and there are Venezuelan families living in the parks thanks to Chavez and his cronies.

Yeah, I don't think you should put Lula with Chavez and Castro. Lula was actually very good. The others had autocratic tendencies, to say the least.

Level 76

I know it's a very touchy subject, but setting aside for a brief moment their autocratic tendencies (which are def bad), Castro and Chavez achieved many good things for their people.

Cuba is one of the most advanced nations in the Americas in regards to education, healthcare, and housing.

Trudeau, meanwhile, and for all the beauty in his smile, has been a catastrophe for First Nations peoples, whose territories he wants to exploit for their oil.

LULA IS THE BEST ONE!? Don’t make me laugh. That tramp of the hell, that put us in the trash. IDK how the idiot STF want to release him from prison. Maybe he did a good government, but just the Fome Zero project, and nothing anymore.

Not sure she's the worst, but she sure ain't good. Boris is a moron, no arguments there. Still both are a dam sight better than Corbyn would be.

Not many "good" world leaders around at the minute. They seem to range from deluded and dictators, to massively underwhelming and or just plain morons.

What do you guys have against Corbyn (honest question)?
+5
Level 81
Apr 18, 2018
I'm not very well qualified to speak about British politics, but my image of Corbyn is a guy who has repeatedly sided with terrorists and conspiracy theorists over his own country which he is very critical of- particularly in regards to its foreign policy. He seems like a bit of a Noam Chomsky type with a dash of Russell Brand. Well meaning but out of touch. He's vaguely alluded to a "New World Order." He's neglected to condemn the 9/11 terror attacks in favor of expressing sympathy for the victims of Western foreign policy. He's been supportive of or linked to multiple terrorist organizations, Hamas, Hizbollah, ISIS, Holocaust deniers, and the theocratic government of Iran, among others.

I sympathize with his concerns over civil liberties, xenophobia, et cetera, but I also think like many partisan politicians on certain issues he is deluded.

+2
Level 78
Apr 18, 2018
kal - thanks. I thought it had to do with his left-wing economic stances but what you mentioned seems more polarizing. From his Wikipedia article it's hard to judge whether Corbyn wants to speak against a media bias or has a bias himself.
+1
Level 74

I think there are a lot of great leaders in the world right now. Only a couple showing on this panel could be considered such.
+4
Level 70
Nov 5, 2018
Often what people have against Corbyn actually is his left-wing economic stances. And it makes sense - certain policies such as renationalisation of the rail and gas networks are probably desirable in an ideal world but in the current state of the economy a complete waste of money. And he wants to borrow loads of money from people, which wouldn't do much for the national debt. What @kalbahamut is referring to makes it sound a bit worse than it really is in my opinion. "Links" to those organisations just means that he talked publicly to people who were either part of them or were possibly part of them. It is possible that he actually sided with the IRA, and is probably too supportive of Palestine to see that he is backing Islamist groups implicitly. On the other hand, that could be a response encouraging movement away from the general opinion of the UK. He has criticised Saudi Arabia and the UK's alliance with it. While they aren't terrorists, they are possibly more totalitarian...

Level 70

... than some of those other groups that the UK is an enemy of generally. I actually quite like the fact that Corbyn seems less patriotic (and therefore less supportive of the UK) than most other politicians. I don't support Corbyn overall because I think his policies are too idealistic to actually work in the current context, and I think his support relies on populism, although it has increased support for the Labour Party, which in my opinion is probably a good thing when compared to the Conservatives. I also think he probably wants to leave the EU, and I think he was probably capable of making "Remain" win the vote if he had wanted to. So I partially blame him for Brexit (though obviously Cameron deserves far, far more). Generally the reason I don't support him is related to his politics rather than failing to condemn terrorists or other unpleasant groups as much as they deserved.

It is disgusting to see thieves and outcasts in the same gallery as true leaders!

While some of the personalities below may have ruled their people for some time, they have resorted to absurd and unimaginable stratagems to remain in office.

Brazil is still in the process of unveiling the multiple dirty, tricky plots engendered by the biggest thief of all times - Lula da Silva - who is in jail, thanks to some brave and bold Brazilian judges -, but yet you have included a smiling leader of the poor!

It has been a painful path to free the country from this gangster...Please forget his face, no matter what international organisms might say. They have been deceived by ill-intended members of Lula's party.

I am astonished to see how dictators appear together with democratic rulers. You would do the world a favor to leave out Hugo Chavez, Kim Jong-il, Saddam Hussein, Fidel Castro ... - but maybe it would be better to hear quizz-takers from the countries where these sick minds were born.

+8
Level 71
Jun 27, 2019
A rather weird rant imo. How is it disgusting that they appear in the same list? They were all leaders, they all excisted..

It is like saying you find it disgusting to see both Hitler and Hitchcock and Hemmingway in the same list of people whose last names starts with an H. They simply do. It has nothing to do with your opinion of the people, so asking them to be removed from the quiz is very odd.

And coming from the point of view that some of these individuals might be "disgusting" wouldnt you think that hiding away the people that did bad things, like it never happened/excisted is a good thing? If anything that would be more "disgusting"

These people excisted, they were leaders, some were good others werent. Ignoring the truth and hiding away the bad things that happened in the past is never a good thing.

I couldn’t give this quiz the highest score because of how punishing it is on spelling. There are more modern 'bad guys' and 'good guys'.
