I'm inclined to agree. Especially as the clue includes Bollywood (not Mollywood, right?)

kept putting Zagreb instead of Sarajevo . . D'oh . . and of all the many famous personages to come from the city of Edinburgh . . . David Hume???? An 18th century economist and philosopher instead of musicians, writers, politicians and actors including the best Bond?

The Franz Ferdinand clue is somewhat confusing when combined with Winter Olympic host. Ferdinand was the Archduke of Austria, and the only Austrian city to host the winter Olympics was Innsbruck.

Yep...and he's famous for his assassination in Sarajevo, not for his archdukedom in Austria...

There are several quizzes where Myanmar is still called Burma. In that spirit I think it'd be fair to accept "Bombay" for Mumbai as well?

"Hostage syndrome" is a bit of a mean clue for Stockholm. Can you think of a nicer one? Greta Garbo; 1912 Olympics; Drottningholm Palace; Djurgården; Stockholm City Museum...

Level 36

It'd be a bit ridiculous to put 'Stockholm City Museum' as a clue. Wouldn't that make it blatantly obvious? If not, it would make people think it WASN'T Stockholm. I think the clue is fine as is.

True, but if you can't remember the name gdansk, you can simply type Danzig which is in the clue.

Obviously need tom know Danzig has a new name

Okay as for Warsaw Jewish Ghetto doesn't exist any more and was created by nazis. Also Ghetto wasn't only "Warsaw" thing cause those existed all around countries that were under nazi occupation.

Might as well change to -Royal Castle-Vistula River-1944-Łazienkowski Palace

These are just clues by association... you're inferring a lot about the clues that is not stated. Carthage is still a city and not the same one as Tunis... but... it helps you get the answer anyway.

Living in Melbourne I find it tragic and sad that one of the clues is 'Neighbours'(Sound of a gunshot offstage as the main protagonist kills himself). So much amazing culture, music, theatre and comedy has come out of Melbourne(just off the top of my head: Paul Kelly, Nick Cave, TISM, The Late Show, Hollowmen,( all those guys Tom Gleisner, Rob Sitch, Santo Cilauro, Glen Robbins); amazing classical guitarist like the Grigoryan brothers and John Williams; The Living End, John Safran...if I had more time...) So sad that the clue is lamestream 'Neighbours'(No! Put the gun away don't do it!). And I don't think there are really that many 'cricket grounds' in Melbourne, no more than any other city in Australia. There is just the one cricket ground however, with a crowd capacity of 100,000, which is exceptional. Also, If you can't spell Melbourne with an 'e' on the end you don't deserve to get it.

Also, got them all with over a minute left.

Why Neighbours why not Space Dogs or Idiot Box...

I'm fairly familiar with Melbourne and yet most of the people you listed aren't exactly famous for being Melburnians, and most are not going to be known by non-Australians. Whatever you think of Neighbours, it is well known (relatively) around the world.

Never heard of any of those people except Nick Cave and couldn't tell you a thing about him. Didn't know he was Australian. But I knew Neighbours was an Australian soap opera even though I've never seen it.
+1
Level 71

Yes exactly the same. The others mean nothing to me, heard of nick cave but know nothing about him, I would guess he was a musician. Only thing I know about neighbours is a soap originated in Australia and had Kylie Minoque in it. Would not have got it without that clue.

It isnt about greatest things, but most famous, and quite often these two things are not synonymous.

Neighbours if more successful and well known overseas than any of those other entities you mentioned. It's not a personal insult.

Sorry Stubart, in that list (excellent as I am sure they all are in their respective fields) only Nick Cave comes close to the fame of Neighbours.

From all those people you mentioned, I only know Nick Cave but wouldn't have associated him with Melbourne or even Australia.

Kylie Minogue would have been a better option as a clue, but I guess that would be a problem for you too.

Love these quizzes. I agree that Danzig could be changed to a Gunther Grass related clue. Also, not very familiar with Melbourne so I pretty much had to guess it. May I suggest a clue related to the Australian Open or the F1 race?

Haha, I was a little confused by the "Danzig" clue since that's still the German name for Gdansk. I also have to admit that I only got Sarajevo because I stayed in a Franz Ferdinand themed hostel while visiting the city.

It's funny how I entered Danzig as the city for the "Baltic" clue, but it registered for the "Gdansk" one, where "Danzig" was given as a clue.

So two things in one.

Only missed calgary never would ve gotten it, though I guessed all the canadian cities I could think of. (Actually learned banff is something in canada from this site)

extremely surprised at how low gdansk is, it basically said it in the quiz! It feels like giving bombay and people not answering mumbai. Maybe they thought it was something else associated with gdansk/danzig?
