I think Calcutta should not be accepted. The name was officially changed in 2000.

It still is used today though

@CreativeSWAT, in another quiz I would agree with you, but since this one specifically asks about the city associated with Mother Teresa, who died in 1997, the name used during her lifetime should be acceptable.

I dunno if it's important, but the stretch of the Thames which passes through Oxford is called the River Isis.

Got 100% but a couple were guesses. Doesn't Miami almost work better for the Havana clue? I mean, they have lots of vintage cars there. Maybe not as many as a percentage of the total... and Gloria Estefan was in Miami Sound Machine. And yeah there was a famous Tropicana casino in Havana, but the first thing I think most people think of is orange juice. Florida produces a lot of orange juice and Tropicana the juice company was founded in Brandenton, Florida.

Spring Break -- panama city, key west, daytona, south padre, cancun, etc all come to mind first. Cliff divers was enough of a clue but spring break is an out of date clue.

Well, I think you are supposed to look at all 3 clues in conjunction with each other. One clue won't necessarily be enough to give you the answer. High murder rate could be also be a ton of places too, but the other 2 clues definitely help you narrow it down to the right one.

And both cities capitalize beautifully on his legacy when the tourists come calling. The poor man's likeness is everywhere.

"black hole" is a pretty depressing clue for Kolkata. How about something like multiculturalism instead? Kolkata may be the only place where one can find a Shia Mosque opposite to a Zoroastrian Fire temple. It was even nicknamed the "city of joy" after a novel by a French author.

And train bombing for Madrid isn't a very beautiful clue either... what about Museo del Prado?

The goal is to have clues that help people guess the answers, not just ones that make the locals feel good.

The Gloria estefan clue is confusing. Miami is the city associated with her.

It ranks. It's not going to unseat London despite Brexiters' comedically tragic race to irrelevance, but Belfast is hardly a European backwater village.
