I collected the names of the 500 greatest albums of all time, according to two different sources: Rolling Stone, and BestEverAlbums.com. Obviously these are not necessarily the biggest selling albums, but I used these sources so I could have some sense that they would be albums familiar to other people; while also not only including the easiest and most obvious covers. And, yes, Rolling Stone will have a bias toward albums familiar to listeners in a certain country; BEA, less so.
Once I had the master list, I sorted these albums by Artist and Rank. For each artist, I chose only one album. In almost all cases, I simply went with the highest ranked album. Occasionally, I would override the rank for other reasons, such as that the cover was too hard to edit, I liked the art work on the lower-ranked album, or I had a personal affinity for / memory of an album with a lower rank.
To be clear, that is not one album per quiz; it's one album for the whole series. That means you can't expect these quizzes, in their current form, to always have the Beatles or U2 on them. I don't promise I will never add multiple albums for an artist; nor top-selling, but critcally-dubious albums, but given the time this project has taken me, I am hoping I never do that. Also, not every artist on the lists is included. I don't perfectly remember why I excluded some, but it was never my intention to be comprehensive.
