Name the countries of the world whose names are most similar to another country.
Each pair's similarity was calculated using the same method:
First, remove all non-letter characters and ignore capitalization and diacritics. Then, delete letters at the end of the longer of the country names until they are of the same length. Finally, calculate how many letters are in the same position in both country names.
For example, Belarus and Belgium would have a similarity of 4/7, or about 57%
A similarity of 100% does not mean that the names are entirely the same, but it does mean that one name begins with that of the other.
All similarities of two-thirds or better are listed.
When one name is shorter than its partner, it is listed first. Otherwise, they are placed in alphabetical order. Also, the answer order is decided by similarity, with ties being decided by alphabetical order.
