The Isle of Man is a "self-governing Crown Dependency" of which Queen Elizabeth II is head of state separate from her other titles. It is not an independent nation recognized by other nation, and the United Kingdom is responsible for all its international and defense needs.
Likewise, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, and England are the four "constituent countries" of the sovereign United Kingdom. They are not independent of another but form a single unit.
Finally, Greenland's own fact sheet says its closest point is 26 km to Canada (http://polen.um.dk/pl/~/media/Polen/Documents/Other/Facts%20about%20Greenland.pdf), not the Greenland (or Denmark) Strait between Greenland and Iceland are only 290 km at their narrowest.
You, sir or madam, have made the most factually incorrect quiz I've yet to see on this site! You should take it down or amend it immediately with shame and contrition.
Hi Geograph, Good quiz idea but I get different numbers from you. I'll post the numbers shortly, one for if you just use the 196 nations that appear in the Countries of the World quiz, a second if you want to include England, Scotland etc as separate nations, and a third if you want to include Faroe Islands as well, which is also a separate nation. It's your quiz, so it's up to you which way you want to go, but I'd suggest if you want to include the Faroes and Scotland, etc, that you make it clear in the instructions that you're doing that. Using the 196 countries from Countries of the World is common enough on Jetpunk that if you use other ones without giving quiztakers a heads-up, they will expect them not to appear and be thrown when they see t hem posted as answers. Good luck with your quiz-setting!
My calculations, using the 196 nations that appear in the Countries of the World quiz (I've followed your lead and used kilometres): Canada 26, Iceland 285, Russia 942, Norway 1280, Sweden 1403, United Kingdom 1407, Finland 1426, Ireland 1764, Denmark 2060, United States 2135, Germany 2245.
If you count the British nations separately, then Scotland 1407 (replaces UK above), and Northern Ireland 1795, England 1862, and Isle of Man 1946 knocks out Denmark, USA and Germany from the list above.
If you include Faroe Islands 1088, that knocks out Isle of Man from the list above.
The Isle of Man, otherwise known simply as Mann, is a self-governing British Crown Dependency, located in the Irish Sea between the islands of Great Britain and Ireland, within the British Isles. (Wikipedia)
Jetpunk should be consistent regarding all quizzes. Only the countries included in the World Countires Quizz should be taken as countries in all quizzes.
Also, parts of Canada appear to be much closer to Greenland than the countries in your list (except for possibly Iceland) are.

2. If you're accepting England, Wales and Scotland as countries you will have to accept Faroe Islands too
Good Idea anyway!

Wales+England+Scotland+N.Ireland=UK
