Alex DeLarge committed villainous acts in A Clockwork Orange but the State is the true villain of the film. If the AFI Conservatory is teaching their students this they're failing them.
Surely Walter Neff is just as bad as Phyllis Dietrichson in Double Indemnity. He helped her kill her husband for the insurance money, so how is he not equally culpable? Also, it is a long time since I saw A Clockwork Orange or read the book, but I only ever remember him being referred to as Alex. I don't ever remember his last name being mentioned.
