Didn't even think about simply typing "The Singing Nun". I was trying to remember her name, Jeanine Deckers. I could definitely have used more time. So many of these were on the tip of my tongue, but needed a little more time to dust off in my brain. Thanks for the stroll down Memory Lane.
By the time they release People Got to Be Free in late 1968, "the Young Rascals" had become simply "The Rascals." That should be an accepted answer. (Spent almost a minute before I remembered they had been the Young Rascals.)
Some of these band names kinda makes me wonder who in their right mind would think that was a good idea? Strawberry Alarm Clock? Hollywood Argyles? The Shangri-Las?
This was the psychedelic era. Everyone wanted to come up with weird names for their bands. Strawberry Alarm Clock, Tonto's Expanding Head Band, Electric Prunes, 13th Floor Elevators, Blues Magoos, Balloon Farm, Southwest FOB, Bubble Puppy, Mouse and the Traps, The Shadows of Knight and many, many more. What a time!
96/135 and just ran out of time. Somehow completely skipped a few I knew (Box Tops, Dean Martin, Stevie Wonder) without even seeing them. I have a tendency to do that. Tried Nino Tempo and April Stevens and it didn't take. Of course, the earlier the songs got, the fewer I knew.
some more time would be nice (the 1970s quiz added a couple more minutes). also seems odd to accept a last name like fontana but not accept wayne fontana unless you add the rest of the band name. that happened more than once. fun quiz
I missed only one of these, and I believe it to be the Quizmaster/creator's mistake. If you will doublecheck I believe (I am SURE) you will find that the song title shown in this quiz of "So Much Love" by the Tymes (1963) is actually "So much IN Love" by the Tymes. Please correct!
"John Fred & his Playboy Band" only works with an ampersand and only if the full name is entered (although it will accept "Playboy Band" for short.)
Can you change it to accept "and" and maybe just "John Fred" as other bands, like Jimmy Gilmer and Wayne Fontana, only require the leader's last name?
On a similar note, "Clark" will bring up Petula Clark, but not Dave Clark, and "Dave Clark" will not bring up "Dave Clark Five" without the "five" or "5". Thanks!
74/135 not bad for a 18 year old. I got so many that not many get like Strawberry Alarm Clock, The Lemon Pipers, Steam, ? and the Mysterians, The Chiffons, etc... really like the 60s everything.
In retrospect, I should have gotten Elvis. :P
