EXCLUSIONS:

Buenos Aires, the Riograndes Republic and Acre were excluded due to limited recognition of statehood.

Although Norway’s Bouvet Island is politically considered South American, Norway is excluded since the island is geographically Antarctic.

ASSIMILATIONS:

- Gran Colombia is included with Colombia

- Great Britain is included with the United Kingdom.

- The Iberian Union is included with Spain.

- Variations in forms of government are excluded, i.e. The Brazilian and French Empires.

EXTRA:

Panama is on the list because of the territories South (East) of the Panama Canal, due to debate about the continent these lands belong to it is greyed out.

If you don’t agree with any of the decisions I made here I am happy to discuss them and maybe even have my opinion changed.

Peru-Bolivia shouldn't count. If it does, than Iberian Union should be an answer.

I’ve been meaning to look into the history of Peru-Bolivia in depth, at which point I’ll make up my mind.
