And China is the People's Republic of China, but quizzes on here that refer to it don't have it beginning with Pe... It should at least have a fill-in, like Czechia, if it's not going to be accepted.

I almost forgot Russia. Wasted a lot of time trying to remember what country fell between Romania & Serbia alphabetically. I think my brain was viewing Russia as the easternmost border of Europe, not the easternmost country of Europe. I dunno. That's all I've got.

My guess is because in the case of each other country except maybe Croatia, the ee-aa sound (two syllables) - Serb-i-a is what people think of, not the 'sha' sound of Russia.

That's because many still consider Russia to be part of Asia, like we were taught in geography when we were kids.

Myself included. I would have never guessed Russia.
