Who's even running this company? Can you explain why a regional paper company needs a headquarters in New York City? I'd save money by moving the HQ to Binghamton. Then, I'd merge several of the branches. Why do you need a branch in Stamford when you have one in Yonkers just 25 miles away? I'd move the Akron branch to Columbus whose economy is growing much faster, and open another branch in Pittsburgh which is not currently covered at all. No wonder this company is going under.
I love how for the most part their offices are in decaying industrial towns. Paper is not only a dying industry, but something itself that was the foundation of all office work. It's a great modern update on all the 1950s & '60s shows where Dad was always working in an office on the _______ account in some thriving city full of great American output. Michael and Dwight are 2 of the My Three Sons who never left town with everyone else.
How to save the paper company: I break into Tiffany's at midnight. Do I go for the vault? No, I go for the chandelier. It's priceless. As I'm taking it down, a woman catches me. She tells me to stop. It's her father's business. She's Tiffany. I say no. We make love all night. In the morning, the cops come and I escape in one of their uniforms. I tell her to meet me in Mexico, but I go to Canada. I don't trust her. Besides, I like the cold. Thirty years later, I get a postcard. I have a son and he's the chief of police. This is where the story gets interesting. I tell Tiffany to meet me in Paris by the Trocadero. She's been waiting for me all these years. She's never taken another lover. I don't care. I don't show up. I go to Berlin. That's where I stashed the chandelier.
Ditto. I've actually lived in, or had family living in, seven of these cities. And not the more noteworthy cities, either. Had an eerie feeling while taking the quiz, wondering if it was a sign I should watch the show.
Montreuil, France, and Riga, Latvia according to the intertubes. So, unfortunately not. But it would have been fun to see Dunder Mifflin open a branch in Riga.
Looks like Yonkers is centered in New Jersey. It needs to move a bit to the east.
