Actually, there is no gendering in English besides basic men and women stuff. I assume KingEureka's native language is not English and he got confused.
Technically speaking, "plutocracy," "Plutus," and "Pluto" all more or less independently derive from the same root: the Greek word ploutos, meaning "wealth."

PS. I ask because I am interested to know, we don't have such gender system in Finnish. That's why when I speak English, I would easily say "it".
