Name all of the largest cities in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, UK, Ireland, Greece, Austria, and Luxembourg that you can. (Lonely Planet Western Europe; Excludes Scandinavia) Includes city statistics alone, not metropolitan areas.
I think that many of those numbers are quite old, which is not a big deal. Yet, some cities shouldn't be included as they are no independent cities. Hamburg-Nord and Wandsbek are only districts of Hamburg and their inhabitants already included in the number for Hamburg. Marienthal is only a district of Wandsbek district.
Others like Birkenhead and Preston (without the urban area, as clarified above) are also definitely much smaller.
I see. I think that I will do some more research next time, just to make sure that the numbers are right. And yes, I realized that some of these are districts within cities, and I assure you I can resolve this problem (I gotta lot of time on my hands you know). Anyway, I really appreciate the positive feedback as I'm a new user and this is my first quiz :)
A slightly odd definition of "Western Europe". Must be an original. On the other hand, Finland is missing. On the other hand, there are too many countries for the CIA interpretation/classification. Also, "Las Palmas" didn't seem to work. No one really writes the "de Gran Canaria". Now I'm also wondering whether simply "Hull", "Southend" and "Stoke" would have worked(?). Didn't try those.
I am removing Norway, Iceland, Denmark and Sweden and adding Greece to this. The Lonely Planet classifies Western Europe as Austria, Belgium and Luxembourg, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and The UK. I will run through the populations with new numbers and will also remove all districts, and Las Palmas will be fixed.

I'm glad I could learn something new, too :D
