Depending on how old the data is, sure. Before the Arab Spring in 2011 and the resultant violence, Syria was a quite heavily-visited country. One of the most deeply-historied countries in the world, with tons and tons of historical sites, for those who are into that. (Which many tourists are.)
I know, I was super surprised when I saw that to, that is just what I saw on Wikipedia: Most Visited Countries in the World I have no clue why Syria was on there.
Do you have a link to your source? It seems accurate, but I'd imagine it is pre-2011 data. English Wikipedia does not have a very extensive list, but I could find Syria listed on the French version as late as 2011.
Looks like Syria has fallen out of the list now, but I'm surprised at Cambodia getting in over just about anything in Europe or over some of the Caribbean nations (Jamaica, Cuba, Bahamas).
i think this is too much time - good typists can do every country in the world within five minutes. not saying it should always be a mad rush to finish but i feel i need some incentive to think rather than just type every country i think of. either that or make it shorter - top 50 is a quarter of all countries, seems a bit excessive. i like the idea though!
Any idea who's visiting the Denmark/Belgium/Netherlands/Switzerland areas? I could imagine it's either people in a car, collecting countries, or maybe just popular EU destinations due to the size/shape/location/culture.
