Yeah, it misses out by about 280,000 sq km. That was my first thought, since Kazakhstan makes up most of the needed area on its own, and Kenya is not exactly tiny.

Got to just 3,817,365 left and thought it must be K - Kazakhstan alone gets you most of the way there. And sure, Kosovo, Kuwait, and Kiribati aren't contributing much, but I figured Kenya and Kyrgyzstan would do the heavy lifting. Turns out both of those are a little smaller than I thought.
