After the President in Exile August Zaleski did not resign from his office in 1954 as planned. Representatives of the Polish Sejm in Exile elected a council called Rada Trzech to act as a provisional Head of State. After the Death of August Zaleski in 1972 the conflict was solved and Stanisław Ostrowski took the office of Exile-President.
