Good quiz, but this would be way better if the ones that matched country names were pre-revealed. More than half the quiz time is just spent rewriting country names from the left column which isn't much fun, I gave up around G and only went for the other parts of the names.
Ha! I was about to make the same comment as you. Definitely would be more fun if the matched names were already entered. I got to H before sacking it off.
As you can see and also read in the caveats, words that are exactly the same as in the respective countries' short names are already filled in, therefore, if I wrote Czech Republic instead of Czechia, it would be all already revealed and then there would be no guessing it at all. That's why I used Congo-Brazzaville, Congo-Kinshasa, and Micronesia instead of Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Federated States of Micronesia, so there's some guessing instead of it being revealed by default.
Also, the quiz isn't about knowing the countries, but words in their names.
Type-in Ivore is normally allowed, because if you say for example "Cote d'Ivore" it's obvious you know and mean the country Ivory Coast. But in this quiz, it's not about if you know the country Ivory Coast, it's about if you know the word "d'Ivoire".
With the words being the subject it's rather clear you're expected to write them correctly. The same goes for GB, it is normally allowed because writing it heavily implies that you mean the country United Kingdom, but the quiz isn't about if you know the country, but if you know what words are in its full name. If someone can write "GB" but not "Great" and "Britain" then it means he doesn't know GB stands for Great Britain.
Nominated.
I would recommend using JetPunk names in "Short name" so R. Congo and D. R. Congo instead of Congo-Brazzaville and Congo-Kinshasa.
The shortened name that we use on JetPunk for Czech Republic is Czech Republic, not Czechia. Czechia is accepted but not the standard.
d'Ivore is usually accepted for d'Ivoire. Type-ins are DIVOI?RE I think.
Also, consider allowing GB for Great and Britain.
Thanks.
