Moon is the opposite of sun in most cultures, you could even say M (moon) = -S (negative sun), and using this same logic, N (Night) = -D (negative day), so since night is negative, and the moon only appears at night, then S = M + N or S = -S + (-D) and two negatives make a positive, so S (Sun) = M (Moon).
And that's why Palau should be accepted as a correct answer.
True. According to wikipedia, the Soyombo symbol is a geometric abstraction that represents fire, sun, moon, earth, water, and a Taijitu symbol representing the duality of yin and yang.
kyrgyzstan's isn't a sun it is sort like a tent they used to use, I think. I only found that out in a library book so might not be true or I read it wrong.
While the article does offer the caveat that "there are numerous interpretations" it reiterates in a couple of places that the red disc "indicates" or "is reminiscent of" the rising sun. (And nowhere does the article make explicit mention of the moon.)
So while, at best, the disc may also have a lunar interpretation, I don't think the flag's inclusion in this quiz is out of place.
