Spelling: spanakopita. - Also would you accept peloponnes? It's hard to always remember the English endings of non-English words.

Spent the last two minutes trying several dozen spellings for "Peloponnese", and never did come up with one that was accepted.

Can't believe more people knew "hoplite" than "spanakopita" (yes it was misspelled in the quiz). Hasn't anyone been to a Greek restaurant?

Been to one only once, there's not that many where I am. Have played a lot of Age of Empires though.

Yes, really folks, you need to try some spanakopita. It's like a savory baklava – all those layers of phyllo dough, but with yummy spinach in between.

as a Turkish person It's just "börek" to me. Also I played Age of Mythology and hoplites were one of the main units of the Greeks

I can't believe that a city as famous for its restaurants as Melbourne doesn't know the difference between gyro and souvlaki.

Gyros, which is pronounced jai-rose in Australia, I have been led to believe, is actually pronounced Ghee-ross in Athens, where I encountered it as a cheap meal whilst travelling overland from London to Istanbul. The Greek word is γύρος (gyros, 'circle' or 'turn'), and is a calque of the Turkish word döner, from dönmek, also meaning "turn". It is the meat that is cooked as it turns on a large upright skewer against a vertical grill. The way it was served when I had it was thinly-sliced on a small freshly made unleavened bread, like a pita only thicker, with tomatoes, onions and a paprika-like spice sprinkled on top.

I will add that it was quite delicious, especially as I was mostly starving, and on a tight budget.

I am not sure what statue the photo is of but the hair and the garment certainly look like a female to me as well.

The statue is definitely of a woman.

But well I wont go as far as saying that therefore it cant be apollo. The gods were quit known to shapeshift. Dont know about apollo specifically

Should accept "Peloponnesus." Some of us are pretentious historians and don't know how to say modern things.

Roman Empire should be accepted for Byzantine Empire, or at least Eastern Roman Empire. Especially if you choose to have a map of the empire under Justinian, a native latin speaker.
