Huh, surprising. I tried Stockholm, and then didn't bother trying Oslo/Copenhagen because I thought Stockholm was the most well known Scandinavian capital.
I did the same thing with Stockholm - then passed on other Scandanavian cities. I tried several "tester cities" in other areas. Since Buenos Aires failed, I figured no other South American capitals would be on the list. Likewise, since Bangkok wasn't on the list, I didn't bother with other Southeast Asian capitals since I figured Bangkok was the most well known
I know, right?! And no Bandar Seri Begawan or Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte. Hard to believe! On a serious note...I really was surprised to see Vatican City, since many people don't realize it's a sovereign nation.
Its country name is the same as its capital. That and the fact that its only city is Vatican City, makes it easy to pinpoint its capital. Also, the quiz has the countries as hints.
My strategy for this was just type in all the obvious ones. Although I guess my definition of obvious is a little different to some since the first one I tried was Ottawa.
I wasn't expecting it to be right at the top, but I'm kinda surprised that it wasn't there at all.
But can you guess which capitals people guess the most on this quiz? Find out with my Most Guessed Capitals on Most Guessed Capitals Quiz: www.jetpunk.com/user-quizzes/28534/most-guessed-capitals-on-most-guessed-capitals-quiz
Great idea. It's weird how so many guess the Vatican on the original quiz, but so few people THINK that people guess the Vatican. There are several other mismatches, though not so dramatic, as you work down the list.
It is more like, the countries arent prompted here. If you ask what is the capital of vatican city, most people would know. But in itself it is one easy to overlook.
Well, it is likely that the majority of people playing this quiz are westerners who would be more familiar with European cities. There are plenty of Asian cities with a similar number or more tourists than these cities.
Canada, the US, China, Brazil, and Russia are large countries. The rest of Europe is divided into many smaller countries, so it has more capitals for people to guess. (Somehow that made more sense in my head than it does looking at it now. I hope you get what I'm trying to say.)
Really shocked about Brazil. Since it isn't one of the principal cities of the country. I would have guessed Cairo, Prague, Warsaw. And would have wagered a sizable bet that Buenos Aires or Bogota were ahead of it in South American capitals
Considering most of the quizzes are very America oriented I am surprised to see Washington ranking only 5th... as well as by the absence of Kabul or Baghdad... I thought years of daily news had left a mark...
And you ain't wrong. What i meant to say is that it might be more believable that people would have guessed up many other relevant financial and political cities for the world panorama rather than CDMX, as there are many people here in Jetpunk from way too different countries (specially europeans) who might have gone up to write down more cities from the other side of the pond. Even though, we can acknowledge that Mexico is indeed at the world spot as this nation is the lovely backyard for american people. I guess many of those who guessed our capital were unaware about the sole existance of the city, rather they just tried on to put "Mexico City" to see if that answer was available. I've met plenty people who have tried typing down every single country's name adding a "city" at the end, like "Nicaragua City", "Indonesia City" "Eritrea City". Saludos desde Veracruz.
Why do people only notice the big quizmakers! I did this quiz ages ago but nobody noticed it but when a “famous Jetpunker” does exactly the same quiz it gets featured! Why Quizmaster why? Look at this https://www.jetpunk.com/user-quizzes/1289432/most-guessed-world-capitals
I'd love to know what the common wrong answers tried are. Such as Sydney, New York, Rio De Janiero, Toronto, Auckland, Johannesburg etc. etc... I know it's not a stat you'd ever be able to find out, though.
Very curious that Copenhagen, Oslo, and Helsinki make it, but not Stockholm - both the largest Nordic capital and the capital of the largest Nordic country. I've heard the theory that Oslo is the simplest, and sure, that's true, but Copenhagen is clearly less simple than Stockholm, so I don't think that theory holds. Besides, none of them are difficult names for English speakers like, say, Reykjavik. Very odd.
I wasn't expecting it to be right at the top, but I'm kinda surprised that it wasn't there at all.
Also, most of the answers say the country on the left column, but it says Lisbon instead of Portugal for the answer of Lisbon.
