ugh. I'd rather live a thousand lifetimes in California, Florida, or Hawaii than live a year in Idaho, Alaska, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, or Michigan. Virginia (where I'm actually from) isn't a bad place to live, either. I'd take that over any other state here possibly excepting New York. Washington and Vermont might be my runners-up. I'm also a little surprised that Colorado, New Mexico, New Jersey, Oregon, and Connecticut all fail to make the cut. They lost out to Idaho? It looks like this list was written by the Unabomber.
Though, I agree a bit with Kal in the literal sense of "best," not "top." I think I'd rather enjoy New Mexico. I lived in Arizona for a year and I loved it (climate/scenery). The old white people may suck there, now, so that's why I'd go with New Mexico.
