The US Capitol building houses 102 statues of famous Americans. Each state is permitted to send statues of the two historical figures they are most proud of. The District of Columbia sent one, and a final statue was placed by Congress in 2015. Guess who they are!
Not all statues are currently in the National Statuary Hall
The final statue was placed by "Congress," meaning that it was not placed by any individual state
When I went there, my favorite one I learned about was John Gorrie from Florida, because he was the dude that basically invented air conditioning and Florida sent a statue of him just seemed so appropriate.
