Today was the Pokémon Direct where two new Paradox Pokémon were released. Additionally two DLCs were announced: The Teal Mask (spring 2023) and The Indigo Disk (fall 2023).
In accordance with The QuizMaster, the next update to this quiz will only be after the release of The Indigo Disk. Thanks for your understanding
Can you please explain to me in detail how you made a quiz with more than 500 answers? I've always wanted to make one but when I try to change cells past 500 into an answer cell, it forces me to choose an answer that I've already used.
You can exceed the limit by having your answer sheet in a tsv-format and importing it ("Step 2 - Answers" -> "More Options" -> "Import Answers"). So for example my file looks like this:
Ok, what you did worked. I can see all of my answers after #500 on Step 2- Answers. The only problem is that they won't appear in Step 3- Quiz Design. They also won't appear on the actual quiz when I try it. Do you know what I'm supposed to do? Thank you in advance.
This is really a fantastic quiz! I love that it's up to date with ultrasun and ultramoon, but I only have to type in 'arcanin' for arcanine to show up. Is that because of the translation?
I've noticed that for Arcanine, Doduo, and Dodrio, the quiz puts the pokemon in a letter early. This is a minor error, but it is a little inconvenient when i finish typing the pokemon's name and there's a letter left over. Anyways, this quiz is fun! Thanks for taking the time to make such a big quiz.
This quiz accepts the Pokémon's names in French, German and English. I know that Doduo and Dodrio in German are Dodu and Dodri, so Growlithe and Arcanine are probably similar. It's not an error though.
Clearing: You should add Expansion Pass Pokemons, which are: Kubfu, Urshifu, Zarude, Regieleki, Regidrago, Glastrier, Spectrier and Calyrex. Plus new Pokemons from Pokemon Legends: Arceus, which are: Kleavor (Hisuian evo of Scyther), Wyrdeer (Hisuian evo of Stantler) and Basculegion (Hisuian evo of Basculin).
Kubfu is pure Fighting, Urshifu can be Water/Fight or Dark/Fight based on its tower of training. Next, Zarude is Dark/Grass mythical. Regieleki is Electric, while Regidrago is Dragon type. Glastrier is pure Ice type horse, and Spectrier is a strong, Ghost type mare. Calyrex is Psychic/Grass Pokemon king. Newest ones are: Kleavor, Bug/Rock, Wyrdeer, Normal/Psychic deer and Basculegion, Water/Ghost fishy-fish.
Guys, FEATURE THIS! Think of how much work it would take to make a quiz like this! It's such a great quiz you deserve to earn points for it! Plus if you're like me and you take this quiz a lot, that's a lot of pointless hours gone by!
Agreed. There were times that I had to check the names in Google, and even then I missed a lot (Venusaur is an particularly embarrassing miss because I thought it was spelled "Venasaur"). Usually I'd consider this cheating but I feel in this case it's justified.
What are the most obscure answers you guys are getting? Genuinely interested. Been a while since I played a Pokemon game but got 151, most obscure was Hippopotas.
in the comments above, it said, "You can exceed the limit by having your answer sheet in a tsv-format and importing it ("Step 2 - Answers" -> "More Options" -> "Import Answers"). So for example my file looks like this: HINT HINT ANSWER TYPE-IN TYPE-IN TYPE-IN No. Type Pokémon #001 Grass/Poison Bulbasaur r:^BULBASAUR$ r:^BISASAM$ r:^BULBIZARRE$"
Why you dont write forms, not like Alcremie's, Arceus's and Silvally's, but like Meloetta's Aria Form (written in quiz) and Pirouette Form (not written in quiz) or Keldeo's forms, Groudon's and Kyogre's Primal forms. I not ask too for Gmax, Mega and if we say about Eternatus, Eternamax, because almost every Pokemon have forms that i sayed. Quiz is excellent, but you forget a dot on end. (you forget some little, but important detail) Sorry for grammar, i'm not American or British.
The forms are just basically stat/type differences, they're not necessary, like Alolan forms of Pokemon are just the same Pokemon, just with a different look and typing. The Pokemon remains the same, it's not like evolution where it changes to a totally different Pokemon.
I'd say Alolan forms work differently to forms like Meloetta's, because once you have, say, an Alolan raichu, it stays an Alolan raichu, you can't change it. It has different typing and moveset to regular raichu, so I'd say it is a different Pokemon.
Tough quiz. I'd call myself a decent fan, seeing as I've played the games from Diamond/Pearl up to Sun/Moon. I also used to watch the anime a lot, and have taken up Pokemon Go recently. Still, I struggled past 250, and only ended up getting 354. This is one of those quizzes where I feel like I missed a lot of very obvious answers.
One thing worth noting is that my performance declined a lot with later generations. Everything up to (and including) Generation 5 I got a decent amount of, but then I only got a few Kalos Pokemon and barely any Alola/Galar. Based on the percentage trends, it seems that others were the same way.
Ok well, my score went up to 534. Playing Pokemon Shield over the past few months has probably helped. Still, I'm kinda shocked that my score beats only 68.6% of test takers. Not to say I'm better than everyone else, but I feel like my memory plateaus after a while and I struggle to remember new Pokemon, and I would have expected most other test-takers to have the same problem and not get past a certain point. Kudos to anyone who got a score in the 600s or 700s (who didn't cheat)!
But that wasn't my question. I don't know them all, and I'm wondering what percentage you need to get in order to get a 5. Getting over 600 correct just feels like it should earn more than a 3. At least a 4.
Getting 5 points probably requires 900+ answers. Jetpunk gives 5 points at the 95th percentile of scores. According to the score distribution stats for this quiz, getting 900 puts someone at 83.5%. I'm not entirely sure I'm reading this right, but you probably need to get way more than 600 to get full points.
That's rough. I mean, how hardcore of a Pokemon fan would you need to be in order to get that many? For example, I'm a huge He-Man and She-Ra fan. I couldn't name more than 900 characters in one sitting if my life depended on it. I feel like I need a Master's degree in Pokemon to achieve getting all 900+!
people who grew up with pokemon and engaged with the franchise regularly have a slightly different brain chemistry to help remember them all!! it's not exclusively a pokemon thing, I'm sure if you were obsessed with yugioh cards or the simpsons your brain would slightly alter to respond more strongly to character and creatures from these shows. I've been able to name all of the pokemon since I was 13 or 14, I'd say due to how obsessed I was (and still am) with the franchise. I feel the same way you feel about pokemon with sports players, I don't know how people keep track of different players on different teams but some people could name thousands because of how immersed they are in sports. It's fascinating to think about :P
Only know the original 150/ 151... Had no idea there's now over 900! Tough, might have to find a quiz which is just for the first generation instead. No forgiveness on spelling either.
Got 905/905 - I have ~500 memorized in number order and all the others I got from reaching into the depths of my brain. I definitely would have done way worse if there were no type hints.
You actually can make a quiz longer than 60 minutes... kind of. Quiz times can range up to 90 minutes, but only Stewart and the QM can increase times on quizzes past 60 minutes with special requests.
It's so annoying that you need to *ace* this quiz in order to get all the points on it. Even having taken the quiz more than a dozen times, and typing off a list I still have never been able to get above 1000. I'm blown away that more than 90% of users have gotten over that mark. Permanently stuck at 4/5. :/
i find it just as hard to believe that so many people can name premier league players so easily! it's all about what one grows up with. this franchise is integral to millions of childhoods, it's even in our brain structure :p
I know it´s a lot of work, but could you please accept German/French names again? I know that this was possible in the past because I played this quiz quite often and since I have only played this game in German I only know the German names. To learn all the English names would take ages. Other than that, great quiz, I´d even say my favourite :)
Hey Thomas, I did not remove the languages because of the amount of work it takes, but because some of the entries mess with people who only know the English names. Typing in the German name Dodri is enough to trigger Dodrio already and people who are trying to go through all of the English entries might stumble over the additional o they typed.
That's why I have extracted the German names into its own quiz: https://www.jetpunk.com/user-quizzes/136733/alle-pokemon-0001-bis-1008-deutsch

bit disappointing but it's alright for a first try 🤷

Here's the link if you want to try it:

I'm working on adding the descriptions next to each move right now, to make the quiz easier. I'll tell you once I'm done.
Poliwag : Ptitard,
Lilligant : Fragilady
Petilil : Chlorobule
808 - Meltan (Steel)
809 - Melmetal (Steel)
Regidrago
:)
For french version, you forgot:
"Magicarpe" : french name of Magikarpe ("Magicarp" already work) number 129
"Metamorph" or "Métamorph" : Ditto's french name. number 132 (metamorphe work, but it shouldn't)
"Limagma" : Slugma's french name, number 218
One thing worth noting is that my performance declined a lot with later generations. Everything up to (and including) Generation 5 I got a decent amount of, but then I only got a few Kalos Pokemon and barely any Alola/Galar. Based on the percentage trends, it seems that others were the same way.
Anyways, great quiz!
That means Kubfu, Urshifu, Regieleki, Regidrago, Zarude, Spectrier, Glastrier and Calyrex.
Kind regards.
however I do have to say that there are a few Pokemon that weren't on there such as Altaria :)
I only know few of the gen 7 pokemon besides the starters, regional birds, pseudo legends, fossils, mythical and legendaries
excellent quiz btw
Now it's #0001.
We have come a long way.
