Well Russia is divided between Europe and Asia and the Asian part begins at the Ural mountains if I'm not mistaken, which are north west of Kazakhstan. The dividing line actually passes through the western part of Kzakhstan over the Caspian Sea, which makes Russia too far east for this quiz.
No. Although Russia's capital is in Europe, that doesn't mean the whole country is in Europe. Most of Russia is geographically part of Asia and, as HatemAli said, it is generally considered to start at the Ural Mountains.
I also tried Russia since the180th meridian runs through it on the tip near Alaska (Chukchi Peninsula). I know it's just a technicality, but one step to the east over the 180th would land you in the westernmost location in Asia.
There is a border between Asia and Europe through the Caucus Mountains which includes Georgia, Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. Physical regions are commonly use to separate continents. Example: Panama Canal separating the Americas and the Ural mountains separating Asia and Europe. So when the borders of the continents were chosen, they made a border through the middle of the Caucus Mountains and Georgia, Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan just happened to be there.
maybe politically, but not geographically. And that also depends on which side of the island you are. as soon as you cross to TRNC the feel is very much middle eastern.
I don't get why Egypt isn't included. The Sinai Peninsula is usually considered part of Asia, and it's further west than many of the other countries on this list.
you think? people read those as much as they read the comments before them before complaining, hardly ever. Otherwise you wouldnt have 30+ times the same comment in a row (which is often also already covered in the caveat..) Like it is on most country quizzes
I really could not believe that Yemen was further West than Kuwait. I tried Kuwait so many times - it didn't seem to work even when I punched the keyboard really hard...
If Turkey, another transcontinental country is here, you should probably consider adding Egypt. Egypt is a transcontinental country between Africa and Asia, with the Sinai Peninsula being a part of the Asian continent. And it is Western enough to qualify for the quiz.
Oops, spend a minute typing in countries from eastern asia and wondering why I wasn't getting any. Luckily picked it up and managed to get them all in time. Phew. Note to self - know your west from east!
Started off by typing Cape Verde, Gambia, Senegal, Mauritania... Swore a little, tried a few more... Swore more... Worked out my North East South West again incase I got it wrong, I hadnt... Swore some more and assumed the quiz was broken, then realised it didn't say Africa it said Asia... Swore some more. Clives top tip of the day: Read the question properly!
Russia is always an expection, however the asian part of Russia is far more in the east so Russia should not be on the list.
You should change the name of the quiz to "10 Westernmost Asian Countries"

Cool ! 1st try!
