I had to go back and check the formal definition of "Western Hemisphere" and Prime Meridian. I missed the two European cities that are on the list.

Most of London is in the western hemisphere, the meridian line runs through east London

Still, I thought that "west of the Prime Meridian" means it doesn't touch it. Like it's not a goal unless the ball completely crosses the line. At least it deserves a clarification.

LOL these populations are crazy! Philadelphia smaller than Boston? Phoenix smaller than Miami? Toronto smaller than Boston?? I've been to all of those cities and I can confirm this quiz is a lie

We state our source - citypopulation.de - which uses urban agglomerations rather than city propers :)

The suburbs of Boston have tons of people. This seems to use urban area.

When you're flying into Boston you just see houses basically stacked on top of each other in the suburbs. This uses the metro area, not the city proper. Obviously there aren't over 20 million people in NYC.

San Jose should work for San Francisco because much of the population of the SF Bay Area is in San Jose. Same with Baltimore for DC, etc.

What?? People dont start with london?? it is almost the least guessed!! Do they think the western hemisphere starts in america??

(And/or they don't know what the prime meridian is, cause it is clearly mentioned it the description, or they think greenwich is in the US?)

It's not that crazy. When I think western hemisphere, I think west of the Atlantic.

The western hemisphere is the Americas, end of story.

Notwithstanding the fact a couple of European countries poke over the formal border.

how come there are 21 on the list? are you including all the cities above a certain amount, like 5 million? if not then i can’t work out why it’s not a more round top 20

I feel sad for misspelling Houston as Houstin, but nonetheless more embarassed that I missed two other very obvious US cities
