For each letter of the alphabet, name the countries closest to, well, an unknown country.
You must find the name of the unknown country, along with the closest countries a-z.
"FS of Micronesia" is kind of lame. The country is consistently "Micronesia" on Jetpunk. The "F" one should be Fiji (unless Finland is actually closer).
Well the USA, UK, and UAE are all referred to as by United not by America, Kingdom, and Arab Emirates. Also, the DR Congo and R Congo are both referred to as the Congo on the country quiz, but definitely start with D and R, not C. The Federated States of Micronesia starts with an F and not M.
Well, thank you for this courtesy. Greetings from the Kingdom of Belgium, which is bordered by the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Federal Republic of Germany.
All official names. The common names (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany) are all NOT official.
I wonder if this country is often referred to this way because other states and territories in the Micronesia region have been able to force the qualification. Is it similar in that way to Greece with the former FYR of (now North) Macedonia? And like many Latin Americans would prefer, but are unable to force, such a qualification in reference to "America" and the US?
By that logic Australia should be referred to as the Commonwealth of Australia. Burma as the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. Cambodia as the Kingdom of Cambodia. This could occur for nearly every country in your quiz. I think what 'nonono' is saying is that it should be consistent with other Jetpunk Quizzes. Playing by your rules, the correct answer for F would be the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.
There's exactly one of them for every vowel in the alphabet in the second letter:
A - Kazakhstan
E - Kenya
I - Kiribati
O - Kosovo
U - Kuwait
Y - Kyrgyzstan
So you can really quickly remember them and zip through them all until you find the right one.
Then, once you have the "K" country nailed down, they're distributed across the planet in such a way that you can usually dial in pretty quickly on at least which continent you should be thinking about, and in the case of Asia, which part of the continent.
(The exception to the continent being the Americas, but even then, if you get Kiribati you have a pretty good chance of it being Oceania or the southern/western Americas.)
Love seeing people going into meltdown over broken jetpunk conventions. I got 100% because I remembered it as FS, while I was kind of surprised, if you know it you'll get it.
I was more concerned with "Burma" when in pretty much all capacities it is now "Myanmar"
The FSM type-in doesn't work like it does everywhere else, so after trying it, I figured it mush be some other country, and eventually gave up, only to find I was right the first time.
I find that the answer for V can be very telling for these quizzes. Vietnam, Venezuela, Vatican city, and Vanuatu are pretty spread out so you get some idea what part of the world you are in
OMG, I typed FSM so many times!!! I'm sorry, but a quiz can't be starred if it doesn't allow Jetpunk type-ins. I have to give this 1 star until it's fixed.
if we're counting "FS Micronesia" for Micronesia then why is Zambia under "Z" instead of "R" for "Republic of Zambia", or Oman under "S" for "Sultanate of Oman". In fact, if we go by that standard than almost all of these countries are listed under the wrong letter!

(This is a joke, I know it doesn’t work this way, but that’s how I got it.)
