Correct, although it seems kinda silly to use a name that's half English and half Portuguese. To my engineer's mind, it should be either Cabo Verde or Green Cape - but "they" didn't ask me. :-(
Correct. The Portuguese colonized the islands and (obviously) gave it a Portuguese name Cabo Verde (Cape Green) similar to how the French colonized a nation in West Africa which they called Cote d'Ivoire. The English language altered the names to Cape Verde and the Ivory Coast.
