Great quiz, but I would have liked a lot more time...maybe two minutes more. I only got 19 before time ran out, and I felt like I was thinking of them fairly quickly.
Very confusing not to put turkey in the Europe section. I missed Sweden and Switzerland, because I was searching for countries higher up the alphabet than turkey.
Thank you for not using Turkey in the European column. It's wrong people. Yes, it's partly in Europe but maybe the easiest way to put it into Asia is: Its capital is in Asia. Which is why also partly-European Russia is included in the European part of such quizzes: The capital is in Europe. This also puts Cyprus into Asia. Easy, right?
Anyway: Nice quiz. I kept thinking of some German names for some European countries and couldn't get Weißrussland (Belarus) out of my head.
Turkish culture is not Middle Eastern at all. It is called the Near East for a reason. They also stem from two different regions culturally. One is the Arab peninsula (MENA region), and the other is Central Asia. Very different.
However, if you employ this argument, then Trinidad and Tobago should be in South America, not North. Also, in my alphabet, "Saint" comes before "Salvador" and as, by convention, we do not use the definite article (e.g. it's Netherlands, not "The Netherlands") then El Salvador should be on the list ahead of all the "Saint" countries.
I think the quiz answers shouldn't be changed because of Turkey, but there's no denying part of Turkey is in Europe. I would add a comment at the top that a country must lie exclusively in that continent.
Geographically speaking you can try to argue Turkey is in Asia, although Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan would beg to differ. Either way Turkey still remains part of UEFA which is the european football association, pretty clearly European. One of those inconsistent things that could be noted from quiz to quiz.
Turkey is a country in Asia found bordering the Black Sea and the Mediterranian. It's near the Middle East and Europe, although on this site is classified as in Asia.
The difference is that both these countries have "The" in their common name (although, the original comment, I still disagree with... "The" doesn't count!)
I'll never understand why Trinidad is considered a North American country considering they're far from any Caribbean country and they're like 5 miles off the coast of Venezuela.
Anyway: Nice quiz. I kept thinking of some German names for some European countries and couldn't get Weißrussland (Belarus) out of my head.
