Hey, Jiaozira. I have been having a long-lasting problem for around half a year (and only people I bothered asking were L2 English speakers, and the wording was something I didn't quite understand). I assume you are an L1 anglophone, so here goes: whenever I edit anything on an svg on Inkscape, it works perfectly. But when I save the vector graphic then try to upload it, the same response shows: "Error reading SVG attributes". Only when I import the normal countries of the world SVG, then save and upload it, does it work. It would be awesome if you could help! Thanks! -Aman :)
Thanks, now that I added in a height and width it works! For future reference, instead of the error "Error reading attributes", it would very much save trouble to put "Invalid/Missing Height, width, or ID" so we know exactly what to fix.
I have had the same problems mostly when I try to redownload and later upload my SVG maps, (for instance, when I find an issue with the maps on my quizzes and attempt to fix and reupload them, as I tend to delete old maps), unless that map was created over an official JetPunk map. I found out that there is an issue in the way the map's data is converted from JetPunk to Inkscape. Using NotePad, I discovered that JetPunk maps are created using one long line of code, while Inkscape uses several different lines of code. This becomes a problem when Inkscape tries to reformat this code, as it does not do it correctly, therefore the SVG file becomes dysfunctional. I do not know a solution to this, or if this reformatting is the main issue, (I'm not a computer expert), as I now recreate my SVG maps to fix issues with them. I hope my comment makes sense, and that this can help with the problem. - Akira
Thanks for the idea of using notepad for this; with your and QM's comments I got it to work! Without further ado, "What's Wrong with this World Map?" should be coming out :)
