Updated to include every country considered to be "Western Europe". I've also changed some administrative divisions in Belgium and Monaco. Type-ins have been completely redone, I feel that was the biggest issue with this quiz before. Thank you everyone who's left feedback.
A masterpiece, thank you very much!! I suggest colouring luxembourg in a different colour on thebmain map to show it's part of the quiz and allowing local language name as type-in but unless these are recommended type-ins that would take very long
Thanks! Will try to make these changes happen. However, unfortunately over 100 regions do not have recommended type ins, so I cannot allow local language varients for all regions.
Is England a second level political division? It doesn't have its own government or council. The UK does have a very complex system but surely the highest level in England would be the nine regions, they are often the ones included when the UK is split into different regions, along with Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Yes, I agree, England isn't a "thing" at all. Even its legal system is shared with Wales. Unfortunately the alternative is to include all the counties and local authorities, which would make England about a quarter of the whole quiz.
I have made two other entries in the series, for Central America and the Caribbean. I want to make more in the series, but it takes a long time to make a quiz like this, and I have had little time to make quizzes recently.
i'm not sure if you still update this quiz but i would absolutely love if you could add the county's of Ireland to it and maybe Malta. Thanks and brilliant quiz.
It would be nice, but unfortunately I don't know if i can. For Ireland I couldn't find any maps available that I could use for data, so that was a problem. Also for Malta there was over 60 regions and I didn't want 25% of answers to be of a more obscure country like Malta.
130 is good enough for me. sorry switzerland, theres no way i could memorize your regions. Same with andorra, monaco, and liechtenstein. Everything else i got all of it.
I got 46 and I don't expect to ever do better than that. Some of these are ridiculous, 10 different regions of Monaco? are they declaring every house on the same street to be a different "region?"
The second-level divisions of the Belgian territory are the regions, so Wallonia, Flanders and Brussels. The provinces are the next level (and you shouldn't accept just "Walloon" and "Flemish" for the Brabants anyway).
That's fantastic, I'm a big fan of all of his subdivision map quizzes. I'm happy to hear that, and thank you for the kind words too! It's always nice to know people are enjoying these--I sure have a lot of fun making them.
It was originally Kanta-Hame as per the Wikipedia article for the regions of Finland. I changed the name, although Tavastia Proper is a bit archaic of a name so I may change it back eventually. Both names should work, however, I did my best to include all sorts of type-ins. And the order has been fixed!
Thank you! This quiz is older from 2016 although I redid the map this year and added a few more countries (the Nordic countries, Greece, Ireland and a couple of micronations to be precise).
According to the government of Monaco's website La Colle and Les Revoires are two of the ten districts and Jardin Exotique and Ravin de Sainte Devote are not.
I believe there is a small inconsistency tho in including the Canary Islands but not Ceuta and Melilla. Either the former shouldn't be there (as it is a part of Africa, geographically) or the latter should. Thanks a lot for your effort, though, it was a nice one ;)
Thank you! If I were to make this quiz today, I would remove the Canary Islands. However I do think they have more of an ambiguous status since they are islands in the middle of the Atlantic, while Ceuta and Melilla are physically on the African mainland. Glad you enjoyed the quiz :)
Traditionally, yes (especially during the Cold War). Today the idea of Western and Eastern Europe is less defined, and I would argue that concepts such as Central Europe are more important. Before the Cold War, Greece may have been seen as more 'Eastern' throughout times in history (such as being in the Byzantine Empire, following Orthodox Christianity during the schism and being part of the Ottoman Empire). Other Cold War definitions have survived, such as the idea of First/Second/Third World. It is outdated, and I'm all for doing away with the concept, but for the purposes of a quiz like this I think it's alright.
Great quiz! The Netherlands should be just one subdivision, as the European part in its whole is a first-level subdivision of the Kingdom of the Netherlands along with Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten and the provinces are 2nd-level. Iceland’s first-level subdivisions I think are the 80 municipalities rather than the regions which are not official subdivisions.
A few type-ins that would have helped me;
Aosta
Rhone Alpes
Haut/Haute France
Occitaine
Also, please accept Wallis for Valais since like 50% of the people there speak German and call it Wallis.
Thanks for your reply!

Hope this is a good reply/reasoning!
