How many of Sydney's suburbs can you name? The suburbs in this quiz are current as of August 2022.
Suburbs only include gazetted localities within the contiguous metropolitan area of Sydney and contain families living in urban environments. Localities including Banksmeadow, Len Waters Estate and Bankstown Aerodrome are excluded for these reasons.
Each section is divided by local government area in ascending order of proximity to the kilometer zero obelisk in Macquarie Place Park.
The suburbs within each section are ordered alphabetically.
Duplicates between local government areas are removed and suburbs are allocated by the largest portion of their areas.
Hi BubbleBath1111. Llandilo's borders were modified on 22 November 2019 and has since been incorporated as an expansion of Jordan Springs. Llandilo would still be considered a semi-rural locality due to its lack of suburban housing. Upon review, Llandilo has now been removed from this quiz until it includes suburban development.
Hi Jimmy. Upon review, Chullora has been removed from this quiz as it does not fulfil the criterion of 'families living in suburban environments'. Similar to Somerton in Melbourne, Chullora is composed entirely of industrial zoning and has no residential population. Thanks for your contribution to the quiz!
I noticed that many of the suburbs on sydneys periphery were absent; Brooklyn, marsden park, Berowra, windsor etc. When looking on google maps the shape of the map here dose not match as many of the outer suburbs are not present mostly north but also south and west
Hi Rayunexplosion, thanks for your comment. Berowra and Berowra Heights were an error on the map and have since been fixed after a previous comment.
As for Brooklyn, Marsden Park, Windsor, South Windsor, Windsor Downs, Bligh Park, and others, these do not fit the description of suburban Sydney as defined at the start of the quiz. While these are all distinct, gazetted localities, they are each not part of the contiguous metropolitan area of Sydney. While it may seem unfair to exclude these localities, a definition of suburban Sydney should be consistent as not to follow a slippery slope of what might be considered a part of Sydney's suburban area (Hobartville, Cobitty, Katoomba?). It should also be noted that this definition is also consistent with my Melbourne Suburbs Quiz.
I'm not sure why I took this quiz, since I know less than nothing about the topic. However, I got 25 from typing in the question titles, as well as some generic and British names.
What about Leichardt? If I am wrong please correct me. Amazing quiz by the way, when I searched for a Sydney suburbs quiz I wasn't sure if one would pop up!
I gave up at 67. Odd thing is, they were all over the place. I thought there were Sydney suburbs called Cow Pasture and Field of Mars. Pretty sure they are places. Would make great names for suburbs.
This quiz is my favourite, I managed to guess all of them, I keep doing the quiz just because I can. Well done with the creation, keep up the good work.
The only suburb I think needs to be added is Marsden Park, as I think it meets the criteria, as the industrial area between Oakhurst/Dean Park essentially attaches as a part of Sydney, and Marsden park also attaches next to Colebee.
If Brooklyn, Cowan, Waterfall, Windsor and Richmond aren’t on the map, how can Blaxland, Glenbrook and Lapstone be on the map if they are part of the Blue Mountains?
Currans Hills has no 's" on the end of Hills, the suburb is just Currans Hill.
Similarly with Connells Points, there should be no 's' at the end of Point.
Ashcroft is missing the 'r' As it stands you have to type in 'Ashcoft'.
Will be rectified soon when I have a moment :)

Yes, this was a typo and has now been fixed.
but why is Holsworthy not included? And Chullora is an accepted answer but greyed out. Also there are new suburbs like Tallawong
Chullora has been removed now as per the previous comments.
Tallawong and Grantham Farm are recently gazetted (6 November 2020) and populated suburbs and will be added to the quiz and map shortly.
The only suburb I think needs to be added is Marsden Park, as I think it meets the criteria, as the industrial area between Oakhurst/Dean Park essentially attaches as a part of Sydney, and Marsden park also attaches next to Colebee.
Keep up the excellent work :)
Also Llandilo doesn't seem to be on the map at all despite being an accepted answer.
Mine is 29:17
