I wonder if purchasing power parity has any legitimate uses (and I don't include the ideological purpose of making the distribution of the world's wealth appear far, far more even than it actually is.

Time limit is tough. People are going to be guessing at some point after the first dozen or so countries and trial-by-error just takes more time than is allowed currently.
