Moos1005 is right, in e.g. German it's "Mauretanien" with an "e" and not an "i". I've made that mistake a couple of times myself when writing in English.

This one was my fault. I introduced the Mauritania error when I changed the format of the quiz. I often spell it incorrectly since, as a Roman history buff, confuse it with the Roman province. I also seem to misspell emperor, emerald, and venomous a lot.

No, you got that confused with Mauritius. Mauritania is named after the Berber kingdom of the same name, which in turn has its name from the Mauri people.

I don't mean to be rude, but this quiz is far below JetPunk's usual quality threshold for featured quizzes. It's perfectly normal though, since it comes from a new quizmaker. It usually takes perseverence and a lot of chance to get a feature. Don't get me wrong, this quiz is fairly creative and it is a great thing. It would make a nice user-created quiz. However, this quiz does not look like something I'd expect to be featured in terms of image quality, format, rigour ("Mauretania") etc. Furthermore, similar quizzes have been done by other quizmakers before, including Stewart.

A lot of the winning nominated quizzes are either creative uses of the SVG map feature, which requires some time and effort to create, or some other country-related quiz. I'll admit that sometimes it gets a little tiring to see yet another "name as many countries as you can" quiz, but that's what's popular on JetPunk, and as long as people are creative, I don't think it's going to go away.

All that being said, I do think this quiz was a creative idea and I'm glad to see it on the front page. :D

But Stewart took a completely different approach to this. He simply split the flags in four and stuck them together. This here is a creative combination of two flags. No offense to you, Stewart, your's is great too, just different. About the image quality I have to, in some cases, conceed. Especially the stretching of the crux and random placement of the coat of arms on Papua New Montenegro's flag looks weird

Nice quiz but I dont think this deserves to be featured compared to the quality of other featured quizzes. I know you're new to this and I think (while not exactly original) is good for being a new quiz. I would like seeing more from you as a Quiz maker but this quiz being featured is very likely just a mistake due to the low amount of takes and nominations. Im sorry

Half of the quizzes that the Quizmaster features have some minor errors which you usually just mentioned and then they get corrected. People should really get over themselves. "This quizz is the worst, why is it featured?" Is not constructive feedback, it's just petty complaints. If you don't like it, there are thousands of other quizzes you can do instead.

As for the vitriol with which people are complaining about "the mistakes", calm down. Yeah, Mauritania is mispelled, that doesn't mean the world is ending. It will be fixed, just as many other quizzes have had mistakes which have been fixed. In the meantime, just write Mauretania on your second run to get you 5 points if it matters that much to you.

I really liked this quizz; I found it strangely disorienting in a fun way. Congratulations

I do think that this is a good quiz idea that deserves to be featured. However, I think several things could greatly improve the quality of the quiz and make it more in line with the level of other featured quizzes. For one, the flags seem to be very low resolution, which is especially visible in the Argentina-Taiwan flag. If the images were just slightly larger the quality of the quiz would improve exponentially. Secondly (though I'm not sure if this is an issue for others or if it's just my OCD acting up), some of the shapes seem to be stretched so that their proportions are not correct; the South Korean Taegeuk, for example, is more of an oval. And I assume this is intentional, but I definitely find it off putting when flags like France-Canada or Vietnam-USA have a slightly different shade of red put right next to each other. If I had made this quiz I would've either made these the same color or picked flags with the same shade. But that's just my opinion. Thanks for the quiz :)

I can't believe the flack you got for this quiz. I enjoyed it tremendously. A few got me (Ethiopia and Colombia, I couldn't see the Colombian flag before I ran out of time) and a could I just blanked. But I enjoy a quiz like this that has me scratching my head. Well done.

Great Quiz. I really enjoyed it as this is the one that got me to level 48. I was like, isn't the last one just Ethiopia and nothing else? Then I had one of those Do'h moments.

For this flag, I used pakistan's flag and overlayed the symbol used on Israel's flag; the Magen David. After that, I had to remove Pakistan's crescent moon. Otherwise the flag would've just been Pakistan's flag with a Magen David, instead of a so called "merged flag".
