I was looking at the icon too and realized, it's a rooster crowing which equals morning which equals breakfast.

It's a crowing cock, a symbol of morning.

It's a crower, not a shower

From Wikipedia: The concept of using a stylized rooster originated from a suggestion by family friend Nansi Richards, a harpist from Wales, based on the similarity between ceiliog, the Welsh word for "rooster", and Kellogg's (unrelated) surname. In early commercials, he would speak the catchphrase "Wake up, up, up to Kellogg's Cornflakes!"

Why does Frosted Flakes have a Tiger? Because some marketing guy thought it would work and it stuck.

Yes, this quiz should accept the original sugary names! Super Sugar Crisp, Frosted Flakes, none of this other nonsense.

I disagree with accepting "Fruit Loops" as a type-in. You should force people to have to type "Froot." We can't have poor, impressionable young JetPunkers thinking that there's actual fruit in these things! Won't somebody PLEASE think of the children?

Great quiz. Sent me down the rabbit hole of cereals I grew up with. Quisp and Quake immediately came to mind. (I preferred Quisp) But the absolute BEST for the toys (I've since learned they were called "premiums") inside had to be Rice Honeys and Wheat Honeys. Plastic animals, sea creatures, dinosaurs, along with plastic Winnie the Pooh and Jungle Book characters that you could hang from your cereal bowl.

Every now and then a box would have 2 toys in it; and one time, we poured out the box into a big bowl and it had THREE! Jackpot! Some factory worker at Nabisco must've just felt like making some kid's day with that one.

Is Franken Berry old/new, or regional? I don't think I've ever heard of it.

And in hindsight, thanks parents, for not buying the majority of this junk.

It's been around a while (1971 per Wikipedia), but apparently since 2010 it's only sold during the Halloween season (September & October). I remember the commercials from my childhood but didn't eat Franken Berry much; my go-to was always Count Chocula.

I always liked Boo Berry, but alas, it is hard to find that, even around Halloween, around here.

Weetabix original was always my favourite as a child. I remember it just had a factual depiction of the cereal on the packet - I wasn't fooled by these creepy characters!

Thought I'd see if a UK cereals version might work and then looked at what was on offer. To my surprise, we have lost many of the characters and logos.

Sure, Tony the Tiger still does Frosties (as they are called here), but other than the odd choco monkey and kilted scotsman promoting porridge, all the cutesy animals have gone.

I guess it's to try and make the sugary snacks less appealing to kids these days.

But conversely Sugar Puffs are now actually called after the Honey Monster!

Can you accept Honey Loops for the bee one?

Most of these logos are ugly as hell. Frosties, Cornflakes, Cocoa Puffs, and Cookie Crisp are the only nice ones. (Do we really need the "Crisp" given to use for the latter?"

It's amazing how effective advertising is. My parents would never buy any of these and I think the only one I've bought myself is Honey Nut Cheerios, and yet I was able to name every one.
