bengals are name after a bengal tiger but a "bengal" itself is not an animal its the region they are from. the bills are named for buffalo bill cody and there is not an animal called a "bill"

As for diamondbacks... I suppose they could be added, but I'm still on the fence on that one.

Again, is a cub the name of an animal? no it is not, it is the name of the young of many different animals. the name "phillies" is short for philadelphians, and while some people might call philadelphians animals, I'm gonna say it doesn't count. the bruins are kinda of a borderline case. the term bruin is meant to be a bear, but no normal person would see a bear and go "hey look! a bruin" I suppose it could be included but as with diamondbacks I' still on the fence.

The name "phillies" actually refers to a young horse, so it should be included. You're also missing Bengals, Dbacks, and Bruins, as mentioned. Blackhawks is an Indian tribe, not an animal.

Actually no you are wrong. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Phillies

phillies is a short form of philidelphians. And I have already explained why the other ones don't count. PLEASE READ AND DO RESEARCH BEFORE YOU MAKE STUPID COMMENTS. thank you.

(1) Don't really buy your argument on Bruins, Bengals, and Diamondbacks. All are specific species of animals (bear, tiger and rattlesnake), like a Grizzly or Timberwolf, which you do include. (2) If not the Cubs, why the Bulls? Same difference--Bulls are adult males of a number of different animals (including cows, sea mammals and elephants). At least "da cubs" are understood to be baby bears. (3) a Raptor (included), is not an animal per se but is a class of predatory birds including hawks, falcons and eagles. By your definition, they should be excluded. (4) Finally, Blackhawk is a problem. The team is named for the native american tribe, not a bird. In fact, there are several birds--"common black hawk" , 'great black hawk"--.not a specific one. Plus, the various birds have a space between black and hawk, unlike the team. Just inclusion of "hawk" in the name should not be sufficient, otherwise you would need to include the COWboys.

1) As mentioned before, bengal is a region [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bengal]

Bruin comes from a childrens story and is actually the name of a specific bear. and AGAIN diamondbacks are a borderline case.

2)while bull is used a few different animals, if you just say bull, everyone thinks a male cow. however if you say cub, it could mean the young of a number of large mammal (bears, tigers, lions, etc.) not the same thing.

3)Are you under the impression that the Toronto Raptors are named after birds? go look it up. you'll learn something.

4)Blackhawks may be named after a tribe, but the tribe is named after a bird.

For those of you too lazy or stupid to look at the links explaining the names, here you go... "After being founded in 1883 as the "Quakers", the team changed its name to the "Philadelphias", after the convention of the times. This was soon shortened to "Phillies". "Quakers" continued to be used interchangeably with "Phillies" from 1883 until 1890, when the team officially became known as the "Phillies"."

And one for bengals... "Bengal is a geographical and ethno-linguistic region in the eastern part of the Indian subcontinent, at the apex of the Bay of Bengal and dominated by the fertile Ganges delta."

several animals are known by names that start with bengal, the same as siberian, or sumatran.

Do you think the Predators would classify?

Also, I'd have to vote that the Diamondbacks belong on this list.
