fun fact the reason the u got dropped from so many words was that printing presses had to pay per letter and greedy people dropped letters that THEY deemed "unnecessary" in order to save money and it sort of just stuck
@Brenno. You guys have the Us for no reason. I don’t have a say in what other nations do with their Us, but the way you stated your comment was in a somewhat offensive way.
Not saying it's incorrect but Tanzania does not share a land border with the Congo. I guess technically below Lake Tanganyika there is land but at no point can you walk from the Congo to Tanzania which to me denotes a "Land Border" as the instructions read. For most of the length of the border you can't even see the other shore. Should Tanzania be counted? If you say no what would you say if Lake Tanganyika extended south to Lake Malawi and ran 200 miles further south and made a path all the way to the Indian Ocean. Thus making Tanzania a peninsula
That's an interesting point. Let me ask another question--does Iowa border Illinois? I believe they are completely separated by the Mississippi river, and there is no point where you can walk from Iowa to Illinois (without crossing a bridge, and we know those don't count.)
This quiz was a total nightmare! Come on - how can China not ... Oh! So OK how come India ... Ah .... so what about US ... oops! Every time you think you have thought of one another one knocks it out. GREAT QUIZ
The only country Denmark borders, Germany, is bigger than metropolitan Denmark. (JetPunk doesn't include Greenland as part of Denmark in quizzes about area because it is autonomous)
Last one i got was saudi arabia btw. And I cant believe dominican republic and nicaragua scored that much lower than the rest. For the first one, it had to be either that or haiti. And for central america they are all in a line, so one of them has to be on there. (unless the were in a exact descending order of size)
I am really tired with people starting irrational complaints with “you forgot”. The Quizmaster spends countless hours reviewing quizzes, and he wont “forget”. I bet that most of the time people know the answer, but just start with “you forgot” anyway; for example “You forgot Cyprus”, in a quiz with Cyprus arguments left and right. A better way to word your complaint is “should France be included?” Or “what about France”. Just saying.
I really think Denmark should be included here. Greenland is a constituent country of Denmark and should be treated the same as any of the French overseas regions.
If counted as such, it then borders Canada at this island long contested during the Whiskey War, now split in half. Which wouldn't change the results for this quiz.
Wait, if Sudan is on the list, is has a border with Democratic Republic of the Congo, which implies Sudan is bigger, yet D.R.C. is also on the list, so it is bigger than Sudan, which is bigger than D.R.C. WHAT??
I would like to inform you of the fact that Iran should come after Indonesia in this quiz because R comes after N in the alphabet. I did not get 100% on this quiz because of this stupid mistake
I was confused why Germany wasn't included but I guess Denmark is bigger when Greenland is included which is fair and Denmark does now share a border with Canada so Denmark isn't in.
The reason for Germany to not be included lies much more in the south west of Germany. France significantly larger than Germany in size. The area of Greenland does not count for Denmark as overseas territories are not included. So if Germany and France did not border, Germany would be included in this quiz.
So if France isn't included due to French Guyana, then why is UK there?
I don't see a difference between Gibraltar and Guyana other than their size. Both are laying on continent, both use same currency as respective countries that own them, both border a country bigger than said countries.
If you want to be picky sure go ahead, but be consistently picky, not just make up random rule just to exclude one country for no reason.
I think it's because Gibraltar is an overseas territory, which is specifically not included in the quiz, whereas French Guiana is an overseas department and region of France and not self-governing.
They are both fully controlled in similar way by their respective countries, they both have prefect chosen by their mother country and local government voted for by local people, only differences are pretty much down to UK being monarchy and France being democratic republic.
If you believe that you can remove any letters you choose from English, then you should have written "Yu", "coment" and "ofensiv" ;)
(I like it even more because I got it right first try)
also when i wa typing doc i typd dr for Dominican Republic which was one of the answers

Quandale Dingle
I am not one of them
