I always begin by typing in large countries with short names (such as Niger, Congo, and Sudan), and then filling in the gaps from there. South Africa is also a good one to start with.
My way, Algeria, Libya, Ethiopia, DRC, South Africa, Malawi, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Gambia. Then rest of the Islands making it impossible for everyone. (0:02 seconds remaining for me with this technique. ;) )
SA, Congo, Sudan, Somalia, Algeria, Mali, Guinea, Togo, Niger, Gabon, from now on you only have to get Malawi, Gambia, Sao Tome, Cape Verde, Madagascar, Seychelles, Comoros, Mauritius. 19 types in in 30 seconds is more than doable with short names like Mali, Togo etc and there still might be faster way I didn't work out.
Second try with islands, it's not that hard. JetPunk has probably helped me with typing more than any other method I've tried, albeit mostly with countries.
In the countries of the world borders in 90 secs, it does not include island countries with no borders. If a country has no borders, how is it in a borders quiz?
This is impossible to do in 30 seconds if you need the island countries. I understand why you'd want to keep them, but if so, you should really add 30 more seconds.
That's like having the UK, Netherlands and France on a quiz about North America. While it's technically true that the have colonies there, it kind of defeats the point because the countries are primarily european.
For some reason, DRC triggers Madagascar. Unless there's some far flung exclave I'm not aware of, I think that's a mistype in the acceptable responses...
Mali borders Guinea, but not Guinea-Bissau. Typing in Guinea will give you Guinea-Bissau because Guinea borders Guinea-Bissau, if it didn't then it wouldn't be accepted. Also, fixed the Equatorial Guinea error.
"Countries of Africa by Borders in 30 Seconds" quiz is like life . . . can get 80% correct in 1/3 of allotted time . . . but the devil is in the details (and the correct spelling of "comoros")!
Had to take it several times, but finally made it. I had a hard time getting all the islands done at the end, since the names are so long and I fat-fingered them a couple times, so I found it easier to do them first then blitz through the continent.
I'm not so good at these timed sprint quizzes. I always wind up at 3 points. Maybe I would do better on these with a real keyboard instead of using my phone.
This gives you the mainland Libya Guinea Senegal Togo Cameroon DRC Malawi South Africa Ethiopia. Then you have madagascar capeverde seychelles mauritius comoros.
I don't know if the mainland can be done with fewer than 10 countries, but it can be done with fewer characters:
You have Congo, which will give both the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republic of the Congo and all their bordering countries. But just the Democratic Republic of the Congo is enough to get the job done; the Republic of the Congo is not needed as a separate entity. In that case, replace Congo with DRC, saving two characters. And replace Mozambique with Malawi, saving another four characters, for a total saving of six characters.
Why do you have countries without border here. The other quizzes that have Island Nations have the Islands shared by multiple Nation such as Haiti and dominican republic, Indonesia, Malaysia... Please remove the countries without border or raise the timer to 40 or 45 secs
I agree, but Gamer1162 is accurate in his comment that the border quizzes of other continents also, for some silly reason, include borderless countries. I get an error message when I try to access the North America borders quiz, though - wondering if it includes the Caribbean islands. I do think that based on this "everybody does it" rationale, there probably needs to be a borders quiz for Oceania... no? :-)
for the mainland. If I counted right, that's 57 letters, or about 2 a second with no mistakes.
Adding the islands means another 52, doubling the difficulty. Not to say that you must remove them from the quiz, or that you must extend the time, but be aware this quiz is twice as had with them in as with them out.
You can replace Libya->Sudan, and then Ethiopia->Somalia which saves you 1 character and is also easier to type. I think this is the optimal configuration.
I found a very simple solution. first all islands then , South Africa, Malawi, DRC, Sudan, Somalia, Algeria, Burkina faso, Guinea, gambia, and cameroon
Did this in 0:25 with a phone. The formula is this:
Algeria, Kenya, Congo, Sudan, South Africa are the first ones you do.
Then you do Gabon, Guinea, Senegal, Benin, Malawi.
And then the island countries. I'm a really quick texter so this was how I did it lol, but for anyone who wants basic advice, Algeria and Sudan basically cover the Saharan part of Africa. Congo uses both Congos, so that's most of central Africa, and South Africa takes came of, erm, southern Africa.
Got them all 6 seconds remaining, forgot the names of four of the five island nations for half a second coz under pressure lol but got em all
My best on the whole world map is 40 seconds (or 50 seconds left), but that doesnt include the island nations that dont border anything. The best i could do on this is probably 20 seconds (or 10 seconds remaining).
Senegal, Algeria, Sudan, Somalia, Liberia, Togo, Cameroon, Congo, Mozambique, South africa, Madagascar, Sao tome, Comoros, Seychelles, Mauritius, Cape verde.
Long names but the amount of borders cancels it out I think.
please post if you did better!

South Africa
Malawi
DRC
Ethiopia
Libya
Togo
Guinea
Senegal
Morocco/Algeria

Took me about 10 tries and moment to look at map for plan
Senegal
Guinea
Algeria
Sudan
Togo
Cameroon
Somalia
DRC
Malawi
SouthAfrica
Only 65 characters.
Algeria, Egypt, Guinea, Gambia, Togo, Cameroon, Ethiopia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, São Tomé, Comoros, Seychelles, Cape Verde, Madagascar, Mauritius.
I don't need any comments saying: "My way was better", I did it with 5 seconds left, that's good for me.
You can say mauritis and it works. It takes like 1/2 a second to type.
Second off:
You can do 'gabon' or 'cameroon' and it works just as well. This is countries by borders anyhow.
Jetpunk has sharpened my ability to name countries.
Algeria, Kenya, Congo, Sudan, South Africa are the first ones you do.
