Surprised more people thought of beryllium and argon than plutonium, tin, lead, zinc...

I imagine beryllium is there because people learn "hydrogen, helium, lithium, beryllium". Argon might be there because people learn all the noble gases together.

Really surprised that zinc, lead, tin, and mercury didn't make the list.

besides zinc, the symbols do not really match up with the elements, that must be it. (i was surprised not to see tin accepted either, but immediately thought, ow yea...)

Exactly my thoughts. Though I'm surprised that name-related elements like Einsteinium or Curium are not in there.

I suspect some shady things happening on the main quiz for Beryllium or Boron to be guessed more than Lead which is way down the table.

Lead is a commonly known substance, but it is not commonly known that it is an element. On the other hand, people better know elements at the start of the table, and elements with an important namesake.

lots of people know the standard "hydrogen, helium, lithium berillyium, boron, carbon" as the first 6 elements.
