In each group, name any answer which matches the first category to reveal the second category, then name any answer which applies to both categories to reveal a third, and so on.
Bhutan was a shocker. I thought about it, but rejected it straight away when i read 'minimum elevation' under 100m. - considering almost the entire country lies in the Himalayas.
Got to admit, that one may have been a little cruel from me :P
Most of the country is indeed very very high, but at the very south, the Manas River allows Bhutan to dip down to just below 100m.
I suppose many people will learn from this that Bhutan isn't entirely in the Himalayas! Before making this I also assumed Bhutan was above 1000m or something.
That's fascinating- it's like whoever made the borders said "just draw it right around the base of the mountains-- except for those 3 towns, give them those 10 sq miles just for fun."
for the last category, in the 4th box I think maybe Russia should be accepted, I could be wrong but I think it fits all the criteria.
It has blue on the national flag, a land area over 100,000km squared and a population above 50 million, I guess maybe it counts as being in Europe instead of Asia though.
I tried it for the third clue (land area over 100,000 km2) and Russia didn't work. I can understand why you wouldn't accept Russia for the fourth clue (regarding population over 50 million) because Russia doesn't have that many people in Asia, but Russia definitely has enough Asian land area to qualify for the third answer. JetPunk conventions shouldn't matter in that respect. Russia fits all the criteria at that point: it's in Asia, has blue on its flag, and has an Asian land area over 100,000 km2.
I think accepting it for the area question but not the population question is worse. It's very confusing when Russia is accepted but then not accepted only after the 50 million criteria since Russia clearly has more than 50 million people. I think that it would be better to be consistent and not accept it from the start or accept it for the area question as well
But Ethiopia has more people than Ireland, more area than Ireland and also isn't in the Americas... Remember the country must satisfy its category and all categories above it in the group. This is shown by the number reducing on the left, showing how many possible countries fit all the categories so far.
I was typing in Kazakhstan in the blue grid, and realised that it does indeed have a minimum elevation of less than 100m. So now I have an idea for a quiz - how about "Countries with the most variance in elevation?" Bhutan clearly will also make the list.
In the purple category I was thinking of Russia - which has a population of more than 140 million, until the fourth question wasn't approving my answer which got me completely confused. Please adjust the answers !
We have to apply some kind of uniformity and standard otherwise people would have different answers to everything. As someone who is almost level 70, you must know very well that Cyprus is in Asia on JetPunk. Since a country is only considered to be in one continent we cannot make an exception for Cyprus.
Note to others: This is not a place for arguments on where Cyprus is located, I am stating a purely factual argument that JetPunk designates it as Asia, whether that is correct or not is not necessary to discuss here.

I don’t live there, I’ve never been there

The reason we don't specify "Republic of" is to not use too many words in each clue, and also because this is a countries quiz.
