Am I the only one who finds it weird what Jetpunk recognizes and what they don't? They recognize Kosovo and Taiwan, which aren't UN members or observers. They don't recognize Palestine which is a UN observer and recognized by more than half the world. They recognize Crimea as Russian which is only recognized by a couple countries. It's weird and feels very random.
By this metric, Somaliland should be a nation. It has complete sovereignty over its territory, and is a stable state unlike its internationally recognized neighbor, Somalia.
Kosovo has sovereign control over its territory, and is recognized by a lot. same with taiwan, the only reason it isnt recognized by a lot is because that would cause tension with china, which noone would want. palestine doesnt even have a clear border.
also, maybe quizmaster is from a country that recognizes kosovo, doesnt recognize palestine, and supports taiwan. (USA for example)
I know this is a joke, but here's the history in case anyone's curious.
Namibia was previously Southwest Africa under the German Empire. They also had another colony, East Africa, which is now Tanzania. They wanted to connect the two somehow, so they made a deal with the British to get that panhandle which gives access to the Zambezi, going to the Eastern Africa. In exchange, Britain got Zanzibar from Germany, and Germany also got the islands of Heligoland near their mainland coast.
